I am so thrilled to have found this amazing yoga studio, and I am excited to spread the word.
Bottom Line Up Front: You won't be disappointed. This welcoming, beautiful studio is for every body (and every experience/fitness level). The instructors are ready and motivated to "meet you where you are" and offer a great experience to every student, every time.
The good news (more details below):
The great thing about this teaching team is that they have the experience, knowledge, and sincere desire to help students meet their personal goals for their yoga practice. Whether you are there to find calm, to build strength and stamina, to recover/heal, to build flexibility and balance, or all of the above, this is the studio for you. I have now had classes with four teachers, and I'm completely confident owner Amy has hit it out of the park on hiring. Perhaps it is because Amy is such a great teacher herself that she knew what to look for.
Teachers here know how to balance helpful cues for physical poses with guidance for centering/breathwork, while still offering quiet moments for repose. No one here is going to bark at you to "go one inch deeper!" or shame you for not holding a pose "ten seconds more!" This is a kind, nonjudgmental space to practice yoga. If you do want a more physical/athletic challenge, these teachers will invite you to go to your edge and can offer options to level up. At the same time, there will always be choices for modifications (basic to advanced, energetic to restorative), so you can focus on what you need in class that day.
Flourish Yoga Tucson is clean, aesthetically-beautiful, and practically designed. The décor is simple and meaningful. The restrooms and changing areas are thoughtfully equipped with everything you need, whether you're the type to shower after, change there, or just need to refill your water bottle in a hurry. Forgot your hair tie? Need to borrow a towel, block, or mat? They've got you covered. The studio lighting, sound system, mirrors...it's all good. Everything is high-quality and professional, exactly what you would hope for and expect from a great yoga studio.
The bad news: Just kidding, there's no actual bad news. Except that I may never be able to do hot yoga again without the perk of an icy-cold lavender/mint-scented hand towel, a signature Flourish Yoga ending to every...
Read moreI have been practicing at Flourish yoga for 4 months and it has been a fabulous experience for me.
The first word that comes to my mind is Safe. It’s a safe place to be you. In the studio that means practicing at the level that feels right to you right then and right there. No judgement, encouragement without pushing; but what matters equally as well is feeling safe walking in, talking with instructors and classmates transparently and genuinely feeling like they care. Also, the physical space is immaculate, I don’t know how they accomplish having a hot yoga room smell like the desert in spring.
The second word is Challenging, but to the degree you want it to be. I sometimes come in tired, with an over—worked piece of anatomy needing special care but I have the choice to push thru or coddle it and I leave feeling enriched no matter the choice I make. I can lose two pounds of water weight and push to horizontal in a bend, or spend half the class resetting in child’s pose.
The last word I’ll use here is Community. I look forward to going, find myself going a few minutes early for a chat or checkin with someone, disappointed when I have to race out to meet the world. I know this sounds a little woo woo, but it is a magical space that Amy (the owner) has created, and filled with genuine, caring Yogi’s that I gratefully and genuinely...
Read moreThis one of the best studios in town. I have been practicing for over 10 years, and have attend every studio in the Tucson area. The space is clean and well thought out. The lobby is beautiful and has high quality merchandise. There are 3 showers fully stocked just bring a towel. For practice space is a large mirrored room with good level flooring. Which I consider an essential staple that is often looked over in a lot of studios. They have a good variety of instructors and all have different styles. Things I wish the studio had were more heated power flow classes. Majority of the classes offered are set sequence bikram style. Although, that is a great style to offer, flow classes provide a better variety of postures and better display individual instructors talents. That said I think this is an excellent studio, with good staff, amenities, and pricing. I personally have made Flourish my home base for...
