I've been coming and buying cactus here for a few years, and I went to see their other location. Her 23 year old daughter was rude, I asked on a artichoke agave and she argued that it was a parryi 😒 I know!!! but you can tell the difference between the two because the artichoke agave will have its leaves closed like a artichoke, meanwhile the parryi agave will have its leaves open. And I know they both are parryi. She said she has a degree in agriculture... WHO ASKED!!! She calls mommy to lie🙄 how mature. And GUESS WHAT, when I show up at mommy's place I'm NOT WELCOME and she also assumed I buy cactus and sell them, if I buy them, they are mine to do as I please, it is nobody's concern what I do with my cactus after I buy them. The lesson here is lying can lose clients, get you bad review and share it in our cactus groups and with a bad rap too. As a mother and business owner she should've at least apologized for her daughter's poor behavior and tried to be helpful and ask "how may I help you🙂". She acts like she's the only cactus business in town, SORRY TO BREAK IT TO YOU HONEY, YOU'RE NOT. I used to come here three to six months and I would spend 600-1,200 dollars a YEAR. Say bye bye to that money darling cause its not...

We politely but firmly let them know (via certified mail) that we expected them to keep their word or refund our money. In the end, they did replace the dead Saguaro with a similar one. Carol August 29, 2011. Post Script Oct 9, 2013: The "replacement cactus" fell over in the wind today and had clearly been rotting out at base for some time. So sad! Ponderosa provided and planted it in a spot they approved. Still no success. Post Script 10/17/2018 So we lost both of the two large beautiful Saguaros in the attached photo. It still pains us today. Other cacti nearby were and are all still flourishing. I agree that it's a fun place to shop in Tucson but would definitely not recommend buying a large (over 10')...
Read moreI searched two states looking for a Rainbow Hedgehog cactus and finally found some at Ponderosa in Tucson. I spoke with Esmeralda, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She took the time to send me pictures of the ones she had and then packaged them up securely and sent them priority mail. They arrived in perfect condition in only two days.
A few days later I wanted an Old Man of the Andes and once again Esmeralda came through for me.
I highly recommend this business. Great service, healthy plants and knowledgeable...
