I wanted to like this store more than I do. I find myself going in and hoping things are different than before, and disappointed each time I leave.
The staff has been friendly, but limited in their ability to assist in what I am needing due to knowledge, or pricing. I try to buy at least something each time I go, just to try and contribute.
The hours are very limited and restrictive as to my ability to actually goto this store.
When I was younger I would go to hobby shops and would be able to have tons of inventory to look through and be able to sift through a selection of options and a pretty diverse inventory to find what I was looking for.
This HobbyTown is not that. The selection is sparse.
RC: There is a limited selection, mostly 1/10 scale and some larger items. They have a bunch of Traxxas parts, but seemingly nothing in 1/16 scale.
Plastic Models: There is a decent, but still limited selection of new in box items, an assortment of paints, and the bare essentials to complete a build.
Trains: The selection is extremely limited. There are a handful of items for buying - track, almost no buildings, essential scenery items, and almost no rolling stock. -- When breaking it down by scale, the selection is non-existent. -- To cap it off, it is mostly all bachmann products, and I refuse to buy their products just because of quality.
3D Printing: They have a printer that usually has something being printed, but I am not sure if they retail anything for the hobby itself.
One of my biggest gripes is the pricing on anything I have tried to buy. Everything is full retail, all the time. I understand being brick and mortar, but I find myself having to buy online strictly due to cost. They charge 2-3x more than even other brick and mortar stores I buy items from.
I hope the store improves...
Read moreI went here today to get a couple of parts for my rc car. I called in ahead of time and the nice man on the phone said that they had both parts in stock. When I got there, they immediately pulled the parts out from behind the counter, and they told me that I could install the parts at the pit tables in the back where the racetrack is. They also said that if I needed any help, I can just ask. I did need help and the man at the rc counter immediately helped me. I even met a couple of very nice people while I was there! I was extremely satisfied! Oh, and if you are not sure if they have what you need, you can go to the store and ask, or you can just call their phone number. If they don't have the part, they can order it for you. This place is awesome and big! They have a wide variety of things there from toys, to rc cars, rc helicopters, rc planes, and a wide selection of rc parts. They also have many models, rockets, model trains, and...
Read moreThey always have the small parts I need. They carry small screws and nuts and assorted metals and various sizes and thicknesses. Whenever Lowe's and Home Depot don't have it I know HobbyTown USA does. Their staff is quite knowledgeable and helpful. Please help me get the right to Parts epoxies for my projects. They also had a great mold making kit for casting resin. Not only do they sell it but the staff was knowledgeable about how to use it properly. I was able to make duplicate copies of 3D art I had made using this kit. I really enjoy shopping here. They also carry unique gift ideas for small children. They have hobby train stuff RC cars remote control airplanes and drones. I know they repair quite a bit of the RC stuff and have a large selection of parts. I can't speak highly enough of...
