Recent improvements are welcome. Deli certainly has stepped up lately. Several other small, but appreciated improvements. One note, lots of charcoal but not pellets. Many smokers take pellets now. Just a thought. Hopefully the improvements will continue. It'll never be Wegman's, but it's convenient for this part of town and most prices are reasonable, relatively.
P.S. Lots of small pitas, but some regular size would be nice. Thanks!
The above was a year ago, and while the store has made some advances, this story is unacceptable......Thursday I bought some Sharp Cooper Cheddar from the pre-sliced deli cooler. So I thought. I got home and it was provolone. So I used block cheese on the burger and took it back first thing the next morning. I was told my the Manager on Duty that they didn't open customer service till 10AM. Okay, I put the cheese in my car and went to work. After work, I returned the cheese on my way home. Fine.
But here's the deal, it's three days later and I went to the pre-sliced deli bin and there's the same package. Still mismarked in the wrong bin as Cooper White Sharp, which is $4 more per pound than the provolone. It sat in my car all day and they just tried to put a new...
Read moreI found pretty much everything I needed, the store was clean, and the prices seem reasonable to me. I have two complaints: I felt cold in there, as if the temperature was set at 69 degrees or something, and, like other places, they didn't have enough human check-out clerks. They had only one. If I'm buying more than about 10 items, I don't want to do it myself, because almost invariably there's some problem. Adding to that, although I don't necessarily count this as a downside, they don't provide bags, unless you want to buy theirs. I knew that, going in, but had forgotten to bring mine. Didn't realize it until I got to check out, but then had time to run to my car and get the bags I keep in there for that purpose. None of that will stop me from going back, as there is more to like than to dislike, and it's a convenient location. In fact, it was my go-to grocery store for years and years. I should add, for those who care, that the restroom is somewhat strangely located. To get to it, you go through a section where employees work, suggesting it was an afterthought. But it's otherwise fine, and I don't frequently...
Read moreA few years ago I would have given the place four stars.
The good: The store is convenient and has pretty good prices.
The bad: The deli. You would think that a Pennsylvania chain would treasure their delis, but this chain doesn't really seem to do that, especially at this store. I've gone to the already sliced and packaged bin and found lunchmeat that was out of date the day before.
Items that they carry in their Thurmont, West Frederick and Spring Ridge stores, they do not carry here.
The ugly: Weis corporation has let this store deteriorate over the years. A prime example is the pharmacy. Correction, was the pharmacy. It was a nice little pharmacy. Convenient and friendly. But evidently, Weis didn't think so and shuttered the pharmacy right before a pandemic.
But that's just one example. Want more? Check out the seafood department. SMH
This store can be very good again, if only the corporate office would take some interest. You would think that it is located in exactly...
