Mad Cow Steakhouse — Local services in Fredericktown

First off I hate to be that kind of person but I drove 30 minutes to try this place and was extremely disappointed. I went in by myself and got the following root beer cheese sticks 12oz New York Strip with Mac and cheese and steak fries. This came out to a total of $43.17 for one person. The cheese sticks weren't super warm neither the steak fries. The mac and cheese was acceptable. The root beer was good. And the service was good. The atmosphere was alright I suppose the random mirrors like I'm going to watch myself eat was weird. The bathroom is a tiny long hallway which was interesting to say the least. Now to the main point. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was slightly under which is totally fine and I did not have any problems. However the best way I can explain the taste of the steak would be water. It was bland and I ate 2 pieces and left the rest on the table. I told the server I wouldn't even want a to-go box to feed my dog. Like I've mentioned previously I hate to be that person who makes negative reviews and maybe the cook was having a bad day. But I am a veteran and I would rather eat a MRE again then to go back to this restaurant. I will rather drive 1-2 hours to Texas Roadhouse. I don't want pity or coupons or any free handouts. First time eating at Mad Cow and it's very unlikely that we'll be back. We live about an hour away, and it was suggested by a local to try this place out. There is a very moldy, musty smell when you enter that myself and both kids noticed immediately. It didn't smell food which I thought was odd. Staff was nice and service was fairly quick. I ordered the steak burger (dry tasteless beef) and really OVERLY seasoned steak fries. I also tried the beer cheese it tasted like old day old beer and funky cheese. My teen ordered a medium rare sirloin with a baked potato and cottage cheese (gross smell and texture). When I asked if she liked her meal she'd stated; it was okay. My toddler ordered catfish and overall that was our favorite thing we ended up sharing one piece between 3 ppl. Overall the food is very bland and reminded me of nursing home food. Me and my girlfriend drove an hour there plus an hour back home just to get the chicken breast which says $10 online but is $16 when u get there and we ordered to go and when I get home we cut into them and they are completely raw so we called to see what we could do about it and they told me there’s nothing they can do besides me drive 2 hour round trip back for them to see the chicken to be able to re cook it and when I asked for a refund instead since I was not going to drive 2 more hours after just driving 2 hours In the first place to get the food I was told no they will not refund anything unless I drive back to the store which would have cost me more in gas and just a complete waste of time.
