Phoenix Theater will still remain one of the best theaters I've been to over the years. Not only is it's location easy to get to, but it has its own entrance in the mall from outside, which makes it super convenient. The prices are always low for either tickets or concessions compared to other venues, and the staff is always very kind and you can tell enjoy what they do. The bathrooms can be a bit unclean, but that's due to rude guests making a mess all over the toilet after their movie. The kind staff do clean frequently, but unfortunately the nature of the guests that come through is something that cannot be stopped no matter how often you clean, especially when you have showtimes running all day long.
And my favorite part! The theater is a SINGLE flat floor with WIDE recliner chairs. Doesn't get better than that! No going up a bunch of steps to get to your seats. Plus the seats have heat if you like that too! There's only a few rows, so you don't feel like you're in a large auditorium with a few hundred other movie goers, it's around 20-35 chairs in each room, which gives that nice homely feeling, but the enjoyment of being in a traditional theater. And lastly, the other guests that frequent here tend to not be obnoxious or interrupt the movie experience, which is always a bonus.

Read moreThis theater is an outstanding example of why home theater setups, no matter how large the television screen or how expertly installed the surrounded sound system is, can never replicate the big screen, cinema experience. Owned and operated by a man who began his career in the theater business in the late 1970s, serving up popcorn behind the counter of his local movie house's concession stand, Phoenix Theatres demonstrates a pride of theatrical presentation that's demonstrated not only by the application of the highest quality audio & visual technologies, best exemplified by its massive Encore screen which stands at a sprawling 65 feet wide, but by offering patrons the finest in top-of-the-line movie theater amenities like heated, reclining seats, delicious snacks, and a clean, comfortable environment that's sure to please moviegoers of all ages. Coupled with fun & educational special programming, like its recent "Trumbull Film Forum" which featured engrossing discussions by the renowned special effects master and film director Doug Trumbull, Phoenix Theatres gives movie lovers the kind of experience that's worth far more than the modest price of admission and which, despite what some critics have recently argued, can't be matched by an evening alone with only your smartphone & earbuds...

I've never been to a theater before where you have to wait in line until the very minute the movie is due to start before they will let you in. It's very weird that you can't get comfortable and settled before the trailers start. Are they running their showtimes just too close together to give themselves time for cleanings?
The sound quality of the theatres here is just not good. At all. Like I laughed at the Dolby trailer before the movie that's supposed to show off the surround sound - because there was no surrounding sound. It's also loud. Like excessively loud for no reason at all.
The biggest annoyance for me - the screens are still set to the height as if the chairs were on a bigger incline. You are literally staring straight up into the air to look at the screen. It felt like being in the first row seat of other theaters - except it was every row. It's really uncomfortable and you can't get a nice encompassing view of the screen from that low. Even with the seat completely reclined, it didn't help. (not to mention my heated seat was broken - it did not heat)
The employees were all nice and polite, I'll give them that. The prices were also decent. But being a film buff, I'd rather go...
