This used to be a good dental practice but last year, I noticed awful changes, which has led me to not only leave here as a patient, but took time to write this review, which I rarely do. In general, the dentists juggle too many patients at the same time to adequately perform their job and are almost negligent in handling patient communication. There is also a TON of turnover (in the 4 years I went there, I never saw a single dentist twice) which, to me, is symptomatic of troublesome management. If you're looking at 5 star reviews, note that many of them are old and incentivized. A more detailed review of my experience follows.
I had a cleaning appointment where I was informed I would need a crown on a tooth they had been watching for a while (I was never told they were watching this tooth-I wish I had known so I could be extra careful cleaning it). Initially, I told them I would do the crown at a different location since I had moved away from Frisco. When I said this, the practice manager showed up and tried to convince me to do it that day. It felt uncomfortable to be "sold to" but I agreed to save on time. Unfortunately, the dentist was clearly juggling MANY patients at the same time, which is why my appointment took almost 3 hrs. At one time, she put the numbing gel and left for so long that the numbing wore off. Then she said they were waiting on the syringe for the anesthesia to be sanitized (huh? I kept thinking do they only have 1 syringe??). The whole thing was so chaotic but they got a temporary crown on me and scheduled a follow up to put in the permanent. I get to my 2nd appointment, wait 20 mins, go to the back and the first thing they tell me is that the dentist that put in the temporary wasn't scheduled for that day and “it’s not preferable to have a different dentist put in the permanent” so they said I could reschedule. When I asked why was I scheduled for the 2nd appointment when the same dentist wasn’t there, they changed their tune and said a different dentist suddenly COULD fit in the permanent. The frustrating part was that I had called the office earlier that day and NO ONE told me about the scheduling issue. I don’t think they have any understanding or care for patient’s time. I should have just rescheduled because the dentist I got also seemed like he was in a rush and YANKED my temporary crown out of my mouth SO HARD but (surprise, surprise) wasn’t able to fit the permanent in. Since the day he aggressively pulled my tooth out, I have had sensitivity in my teeth. Notably, I didn’t have sensitivity with my temporary crown before. I mentioned this when they finally put in the permanent crown on my 3rd visit, but they brushed it off like it was normal. Well, 9 months later, I still had sensitivity and had to get a root canal. I did not have an infection and I still wonder if I would have needed a root canal if it wasn't for that crazy dentist who yanked at my tooth. Also, when I went to endodontic specialists to evaluate my tooth, they told me Thrive is known to be a poor place to work. There are SO MANY great dentists, please stay away from this practice. It's definitely...
Read moreToday was my first time going to a New Dentist after going to my previous Dentist for 17 years. And I have had nothing but OUTSTANDING service from the beginning of getting my appointment scheduled, to coming to the Thrive frisco office for appointment. I was met positive upbeat energy from all of the ladies at the front desk. They answered all of my questions while filling out my new patient paperwork. Then Dani took me back for my appointment. She started with my X- rays and explained everything that she was doing as she was doing it. She asked many times along the way if I had any questions . She was kind, knowledgeable and patient. Then Dani took me back to the cleaning exam room where she played a welcome video for new patients ( I loved this, It made me feel so welcome ) Dani then asked if I would like a pillow or blanket and what movie or show I wanted to watch. It was so nice . I’ve never felt pampered like this at any type of doctors appointment, let alone at a dentist appointment like this . After Dani finished taking all of my X-Rays, Dr. David came and introduced himself. He went over in great detail the pictures and X-rays that were taken of my teeth. He explained where my problem areas were and where I had some cavities. He answered ALL of my questions again with detail . He was very Kind, patient and knowledgeable and I greatly appreciated that. He did find 3 Cavities , but said I could get them taken care of all today all in the same appointment . ( I’ve never had this be able to happen and was very impressed ) Kim then came by and explained my treatment plan and the expense details . She answered all my question and was also so kind and knowledgeable. My cleaning happened Next and Salam did my cleaning . She made sure I felt comfortable and explained what she was doing each step of the way from using a water pic, to the actual plack and brush cleaning of my teeth. I was also given sunglass to wear during my ex rays, exam and cleaning which is great for someone like me who is sensitive to bright lights. I then Got my filling and the wonderful experience and service I received followed suit. All in all, I have had the most amazing experience here at Thrive and they have definitely gained a new and VERY happy patient. I 10/10 recommend Thrive to EVRYONE! They even offer Free whitening trays and gels to new patients and A free orthodontics Consult which so will be taking advantage. So if you are looking for a new Dentist or even if you aren’t, I strongly suggest Booking your next Dental appointment at Thrive Dental and...
Read moreI came in as a NEW patient. There was no introduction nor what I can expect as I was moved from room to room. The receptionist was friendly and took an initial x ray after I waited 15 mins. I was then asked to sit in a cubicle that’s wide open on both sides (no privacy) - waited a further 5 mins. A lady walked in, didn’t introduce herself or explain what she was doing, just asked me to sit back and stared taking X-rays of my mouth for almost ten mins without saying anything. I then waited a further 25 mins before heading to reception to ask how long my wait will be. (As you are waiting to feel colder and colder. The place is freezing cold. I was offered a blanket which was nice but didn’t cut it for how cold it actually was.) The receptionist confirmed the dental practitioner will be “a few more minutes”. The dentist came in 15 minutes later. I asked her if it’s normal practice to have patients wait 1hr and 10 mins before being seen. Dr Osman came in and she was just wonderful. If this review was based on her alone she’d get 5 stars. She was in and out in 7 mins leaving me to wait for a someone to come and talk through my dental plan. The went back to reception to ask how long the next two steps will take. Explaining I have young children to pick up and I’d been here now for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Again, she shared “in a few minutes”. I waited patiently for a further 15 minutes before heading back to reception to ask for my treatment plan. I explained I don’t have time for a dental clean due to having to pick my children up. I got a sheepish sarcasm tone back mimicking my worlds of saying “be on my way”. The lady who covered the treatment plan was very kind, precise and professional. Her name was Natalie and she’s great! So haven’t taken half day off and 96 mins later - I only ended up getting my dental visit and not dental clean done. Overall the experience included poor communication, and terribly long...
