Ruined an expensive pair of diamond hoop earrings.
I took my diamond hoop earrings in. They were made of white gold to which I'd developed an allergy. I'd been testing them by wearing them all day. I took them out of my ears and asked if the posts could be replaced with yellow gold or another metal. I was told it would require inspection and I left them there. I also left a watch for battery replacement and a minor ring repair.
I came back after getting a call. I got back the ring and watch intact. But to my horror, one earribg was bent into a distinct oval. It would no longer latch at all. The girl behind the counter (who wasn't there when I dropped them off) said the owner claimed they were brought in that way and that's why it couldn't be fixed (the studs, for another metal). I showed her how it was now impossible to close and latch because of the damage and I'd been wearing them that day to test again whether I was really allergic (after cleaning them) and now that wasn't possible. I didn't anticipate having to take pictures of them PRIOR to repair. The owner wasn't there so I was told to come back when he was. They didn't charge me the insignificant repair fee for the other pieces, which is not even a fraction of the value of these earrings before they were damaged. I left the earrings there.
I came back after the owner returned. Now, BOTH earrings were bent into ovals and MATCHED in their damage. The owner continuously insisted he "barely touched them" and asked "what I thought he did to them." I stated that this was simple: I brought them in intact and undamaged, and I came back and one was badly bent. Now, both were bent, albeit less so, so they could close. He repeatedly insisted he "barely touched them" and had the gall to say covering a BATTERY REPLACEMENT was enough to compensate me for a pair of diamond earrings he'd badly damaged that cost thousands of dollars.
I now know to document jewelry prior to repairs to protect myself. I'm at a total loss. To be taken advantage of so ruthlessly is really horrible. My only pair of high quality earrings, gifted to me by my mother, horribly damaged for no good reason. And no responsibility...

Iāve been a customer for years with occasional purchases, but creating this custom ring was exceptional service and prompt.
I showed Pearse what my girlfriend liked from a Pinterest board and the ring she wanted was a fairly simple solitaire ring, but the emerald cut diamond and size she wanted was a harder find. He mentioned a business trip coming up in which he is personally going to meet some of his diamond suppliers and that he would go and hand select some emerald cut diamonds that fit my criteria. Once he got there he narrowed the options down to two based on our parameters of cost, size, color, clarity, etc. He sent me photos, the diamond certificates and helped me make the final decision onto which diamond to choose. Even though I was not there in person his expertise, knowledge, and communication helped me feel comfortable in making the purchase.
Once he got back the following week, we began designing and finalizing the ring. He even got the diamond laser scanned and fitted into the ring- the ring was made for the diamond! I didnāt know that was a thing. Within 2 weeks he got the final ring to me. I was changing plans for my proposal and moved it up a little, and Pearse even helped me save time and get on schedule by meeting me at my place of work to deliver the ring.
The entire process was as easy as it could be. Pearse hand selected the diamond, also showing and comparing the cost difference he saved me rather than just ordering a diamond. His knowledge also helped educate me in my purchase. I will never go anywhere else for jewelry purchases. The attention to detail and efforts put into following my vision helped make āthe perfect ringā (as my now fiancĆ©e...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn my search for a gift for my girlfriend, I had visited the two large chain jewelers in town, only to be greeted with poor customer service and outright neglect. After somewhat abandoning my search and reluctantly deciding that I would most likely have to find what I wanted via the internet, I happened to stumble upon Hayes Jewelry while dropping off a package at the UPS store nextdoor. In Hayes, I was immediately greeted by a very kind girl, whose name I unfortunately do not remember, who was more than happy to help me find the perfect gift. Although they did not have what I wanted in store, she helped me navigate their rather sizable catalog to choose a beautiful bracelet that was reasonably priced, arrived promptly, and was just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, due to an error in putting the bracelet on my girlfriend's wrist, the links twisted badly and the bracelet broke. We returned to Hayes Jewelry, where we met the owner, Pearse Hayes. Pearse was incredibly gracious and offered to mend the bracelet for us. My girlfriend was reluctant, and wanted something that she could wear more "day-to-day". She decided on pearl earrings, and Mr. Hayes was happy to accommodate. When the cost of the earrings was more than the initial price that I paid for the bracelet, he spotted us the difference because we had an issue with the bracelet and he did not want us to have an inferior product. During the visit, he also satisfied our curiosity with a fascinating chemistry lesson on metal alloys in Jewelry. Overall, we both left very happy with both the earrings and the customer service. Pearse Hayes and his staff are welcoming, caring, and knowledgeable. I am very happy to have wandered into...
