I adopted my dog here back in December 2016. He will be 8 years old this October. He has been the love of my life so long.
Unfortunately, he wasn't doing well with my 3 kids under 4 years old. I didn't want to put him down so I reached out to Humane Society of NE Georgia.
Wylin (I'm sorry if name is spelled incorrectly) was courteous, kind, understanding, and helped me making the toughest decision to surrender my precious Luke.
I brought him in today to be evaluated and surrendered. Wylin took Luke and as I waited the two front desk girls started talking negatively about people who surrender their pets. The following was said "I need people to stop bringing their dogs in they just need to take them home" "especially since some of the reasons people bring them in is things that can be worked on" "yeah people can just get training for their pets". This is just a small bit of what was said.
I understand there are people that adopt and surrender carelessly. People are entitled to their opinion but not to be said in front of "customers". This was all said while I'm a few feet away waiting to lose my first child basically.
I had luke since he was 2 months old and I tried multiple avenues to prevent rehoming but for the safety of my children I had to make the toughest decision of my life. Everyone who knows me and luke, know that he is my everything and I would do anything to keep him until was old. 8 years of love and care for the best dog in the world.
I sat there holding back tears waiting and cried when I had to say goodbye. All while being judged by these two girls. And they verbally made it aware they frowned upon what I was doing. You do not know what someone is going through and why they may need to surrender their pet.
This review would be lower if it were not for Wylin interacting with me with compassion.
I really hope you review with your front desk and have them refrain from openly bashing the people going there for help. I looked everywhere for a non kill shelter and discussed options with Wylin in case Luke didn't get adopted what could be done. He helped so much. This was a tough day for me and my family losing someone so important to us and it hurt so much hearing these girls conversation as if they know what someone may be going through.
Thank you Wylin for your help. I miss Luke already and wish he could be here. Thank you for taking care of him. He really is an...
Read moreI'm leaving a 2 star review only because 2 of our sweet kitties came from here. We visited today to maybe add a 3rd kitty to our family. When we walked into the cat room before we even crossed the threshold was asked "are you planning to adopt today or no?" I understand people probably come in for visits or play time but not everyone does. Let people enter in peace. It was like a parking lot of a car dealership. Bombarded. I was a little taken back and said "possibly but would like to look and meet them" she then proceeded to say since we weren't adopting we couldn't meet any with the door open/out of the cage. We ignored and finished walking the room. Once we got to the other side, at the end, we found the sweetest girl named Paypaya. She was pawing touching my little boys hand gently thru the bars meowing. Out of NOWHERE a girl flings the entrance door open and says to keep his fingers to himself and out of the bars. Scolds him. It was so inappropriate. We spoke with the manager (he was very, very kind) and he said none of it was appropriate or called for. I encouraged him to pull the cameras. That the ENTIRE visit was like visiting a high security prison. Weird. Inappropriate. And frankly ridiculous. I will end this to say, none of my visits here have ever been this way. It's either a bad day of bad employees or new rules in place that will hinder good families, like ours, from adopting. I hope the employees from today were genuinely corrected as he promised and moving forward nothing like this happens again. The animals finding homes should be top priority and today, it cost them an excellent adoption with a family who's devoted to rescuing animals and giving them a wonderful, loving home...
Read moreI have been going to this place for years. I got both my dogs their yearly shots. My family never purchases flea preventive and heart guard from them. There was never an issue and we would just get the prescription sent to another pharmacy. When I tried to get it approved from the other pharmacy it was declined. The pharmacy I use said they called several times and left voicemails. When I learned about this I emailed the Human Society. Their reply stated my dogs prescriptions were APPROVED and GOING FORWARD they have a new pharmacy and their will be a $10 fee for faxing/approval. No one asked me to give them any money. It has been 2 weeks and nothing. The pharmacy I get my dog meds from continued to call and leave voicemails. I even called them to make sure they were using the right number with the correct extension because no one ever answers the phone at the Humane Society. I called today to discuss the issue. First they told me the pharmacy is having delays because it's new and will get the prescription approved. Then they changed their minds and said I was told they would charge me $10. I told them about the email that was sent to me.At this point I'm thinking was there a delay or did I need to pay $10 this whole time? I did not understand. In the end I agreed to pay the fee and told the person over the phone it's not their fault. Then a new person entered the conversation and told me I was not going to disrespect their manager and wanted an apology. I just wanted to get my dogs medications approved. I don't know who these new people are, but they are very rude. I believe most of it stems from their new customer...
