How surprised I was pleasantly. Numerous smiling employees who asked me if I was finding everything OK. Even when I did ask, they took me to the item, not just pointed to an aisle. It is clean, well lit, well stocked. The hot foods area was extremely busy. If that food tasted half a good as it smelled, I can understand why. Ladies were super friendly at the deli. The check out workers helped me unload my cart and take my groceries to my car. They could see I was a little hampered by my shoulder and offered to help. Prices are very competitive.

Update: it's now 2 years later and this store and it's employees still make me smile. I thought perhaps the novelty of a new town, new stores, all the feelings a move brings might have " hyped" my review but I'm happy to say that after 2 years of living in Gardendale; I'm blessed to have Foodland as my grocery store. The people smile and greet you... the butchers are very helpful when I have questions. I no longer need assistance with the groceries but they still ask. The hot foods section is seriously a value that can't be beat. The gentleman that takes care of dairy, etc... does an impeccable job. His attention to items being straight and labels facing forward. His presentation is excellent. I want to buy something there just because it's so neat. I don't know who takes care of the produce section but that's always attractive as well. No leaves or onion paper laying on the floor. The area is swept up, produce is in tidy sections not just thrown together. I believe the people that work here care about their store as well as their costumers. For that, I'll keep...

Been shopping here about my whole life. It's worth spending a little extra to avoid the big corporate box stores. The meat selection and quality is unbeatable and are fairly priced. Great frozen goods as well.

The only item I don't frequently get is produce and salad bags. The pickings can be slim on quality fruit and vegetables sometimes. I usually stick with other stores for those items but its a minor gripe. The staff is always friendly and they have their register lines under control the majority of the time. It's nice to go somewhere where you still get a human to ring you up and help with baggage. Overall well stocked, clean and good sales especially...

So glad this store was updated. Friendly staff and great selections. Deli is a nice addition too. Wish you wouldn't run out of your delicious deli made meatloaf on Tuesday so early in the day. It is soooooo good. Thanks for caring Big Sky Bread. I love the honey wheat. I used to buy it in Mountain Brook Village when their store was there. The Cheese Factory dark brown seeded bread is also delicious. Love your store. Great...
