I feel as if Big Lot is slowly turning into Value City. They started off as a reasonable discount store that offered everything from food, household products, makeup, personal items etc. Slowly started adding furniture, a random side table here and there. Then stopped taking EBT and certain credit cards. Everytime they "renovated" the store they'd slowly push the furniture towards the front of the store. Eventually jacked up the prices to those discounted items and I guess they were trying to keep up with their assumed competitor, like Levin's and Daniel's. Then became officially Value City Furniture. Funny where greed will lead you because I guess Big Lots is taking a page from VC book but you see where that lead them. Kmart too, by the time they realized that they made a mistake tried to partner with Sears, not sure why they expected them to save them when they were drowning too. Now look at them, all out of business or in shambles. I see this future for BL as well, shame because I liked them, especially around the holidays.
I won't be going back anymore. They don't accept EBT and Discover/Visa credit card. I guess since their new makeover they think they're better than the greater percentage of customers. Well I put back alot of my items and so did the woman behind me when she heard the cashier say that they don't accept EBT anymore nor the credit cards I named earlier. Best of luck because it surely looked dead in there today, I predict soon or later they will be closing permanently or only accepting cash. They should have made a commercial with this announcement so people won't waste their time going and putting items in their cart only to realize in the end they can't get it. That would save alot of time. Not just for the customers but for the employees that's expected to put back carts full of stuff before the end of...
Read moreOk I really enjoy shopping here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very wide selection of items. This is my go to store for seasonal decorations such as door mats, wreaths, table cloths, etc. I bought a big comfy sectional for my finished basement. Surprisingly good quality and equally great price. Even with a Mastiff (large breed of dog), very hyper nieces and nephews who don't listen when I yell "No jumping on the couch" the sectional is holding up very well. Still looks new. When I was purchasing it I expressed concern about how the fabric will hold up against spills when the Browns are playing and my husband may spill a little of his drink during excitement or anger lol. She said it should hold up well but also said scotch guard it. She was right! No stains at all and it's been a little over a year now. Also this is a great place to shop for stocking stuffers during the holidays without breaking the bank. I love that their inventory is always changing. The prices here are great. This is also my go to store for my cleaning supplies such as laundry, scrub brushes, brooms, and house cleaners. Great place. Only negative thing I can say about this location is it can get a little...
Read moreI have to say I love the discounted items in this bargain store. However you should check dates just to verify they(food) aren't expired. But this place is great for a cheap buy in regards to toilet paper, and sundry. Another bonus is having a public bathroom. I can't promise it's always clean but nonetheless it's open to the public. Now what really grinds my gear is the "rewards program" they claim to have. In order to be defined as a rewards program, their should be some incentive or reward. Big lots only offers a $5 coupon , after signing up as a new member and the weekly advertisements for items that are on sale. Correct me if im wrong , but that would fall more in the category of a membership or even a cheap form of marketing. I think they...
