I usually love coming here, but I had an incident at self checkout where I rang up my order then payed for it. As I was putting the last few Pennieās in the machine just gave up and told me to wait for assistance, the lady came by and looked at it and totally voided the transaction like I didnāt even pay a dime. She then tells me go ahead and pay, even though I already have. She claims thatās impossible since I did not get a receipt. In that sense she was pretty much calling me a liar. She did not trust the fact I did. So we went up to the customer service and tried sorting out my issue there. After a short explanation from her (which was a short blatant lie), the customer service rep my issue it seemed as she didnāt trust me either as she kept giving me dirty looks. After 25 min of her trying to figure the issue she called the camera guy and thankfully he was able to confirm the fact I did pay. So I walk away with my items with no receipt or proof of transaction. Well thatās not the end of it. One item I bought was not activated, I did not realize that as I got home I called the store and told them my issue and that I would be back the following day to try to fix my issue. As i get there thereās no one from the previous day, so I have to explain my story to this person and she looks at me like Iām a crazy person. She basically tells me I have to repurchase it since I have no proof of purchase. Iām trying not to get frustrated after she tells me this, so she asks if I would like a manager. I went just before Thanksgiving 2015 and they told me they are not set up to bill my Insurance yet so I will have to pay for this and send in a claim so I said that would be fine. I sent in my claim and I was denied. I called the Insurance company to ask why and they told me that they already turned in for the exam. The insurance company called them and they said we have to send back a check to me it was a mistake. Well 2 weeks later no check, so I called and they said it has to go through corporate should be a week. Call back on a Monday week later and they said no it does not have to go through corporate I will write out the check today and send it out. One week later I call and the same person told me no it does have to go through corporate he had to cancel his check because he cant just give back cash. Yes you read that right he had to cancel his check because he cant give back cash. I asked so I have been told over and over that the check is in the mail and it still has not been sent out "should be one more week". The trend of the past how many years has been to funnel as many people through self checkout as possible. And I guess I get that and it's ok for a handful of items. The issue is with regular check out with full carts of merchandise. My store has 10 check out lanes. I can't recall the last time I saw more than 3 open. That's 30% utilization, come on. Lines of people today waiting 20 minutes just for the privilege of bagging their own groceries. The store was recently remodeled and pictures of old Meijer experiences are shown by the check out lanes. Fred Meijer is rolling over in his grave knowing his customers are bagging their own groceries! To top it off once I'm finally through check out there are 2 employees standing by the door for goodbyes and thank yous. Don't get me wrong that's nice but if I had to choose between extra cashiers or baggers vs greeters the former wins. I don't get paid to do the stores work, I don't get a discount for doing their work. Meijer needs to seriously look at their approach to check...
