Lip service, not customer service! We hired Design Tops to demolish two kitchen countertops and an island top, and replace them with granite; however (and much to our chagrin) they fell short on a number of things, including reasonably adjusting our bill to offset the following issues: a one-day delay (which meant we had to juggle both our and the plumber’s schedules, plus we were an extra day without a working kitchen); damage/a big chunk out of a wall; ½-inch gaps and zero caulking between the backsplashes and walls; and screws left in (which we then had to remove before we could put lower cabinet drawers back in). We were told the demo and installation would be an all-day job; however, it wasn’t until late morning of the scheduled day that they informed us that it couldn’t be done (because it would take all day) and that they would do it the following day. They arrived late morning the next day and the entire job took only 3½± hours, from start to finish. As such, (based on the shorter time frame, necessary wall repair, and somewhat incomplete installation – i.e., lack of caulking), it would stand to reason that we received a rushed (and less than satisfactory job) and/or were overcharged for the labor component. We spoke to the owner and requested a reasonable adjustment be made to our bill, but all we received was a token amount ($100) and an insincere apology. We understand that things happen when there is construction involved, however, an incomplete installation, coupled with the owner’s unwillingness to make things right, means two thumbs down and no referrals.
Update: As stated in my initial review - lip service, not true customer service. Having worked in the service industry, I very well know good customer service when I see it and, in this case, the owner has fallen way short...
Read moreI was referred to Design Tops by a family friend and they did not disappoint. Over the course of several months, I worked with the owner and his staff to carefully select the new quartz countertop for the kitchen at my townhouse. I had changed my mind once on the slab (color), and we had gone back and forth many, many times about the length of the countertop peninsula. Britt went the extra mile to work with me on securing an installation date before Thanksgiving, considering I had multiple contractors coming in to do different work at the site, all of which had to coordinate. The templating process was quick, and installation followed suit one week later. Although we did have one hiccup, Design Tops quickly acted to rectify the situation and now I have a beautiful, new countertop, made to specifications. I just love it. Everyone - right down to the installers - was extremely professional and courteous....
Read moreBack in 2015 and 2017 I was on a real budget since i was a DIYer. I didn't mind putting in the leg work to put in 2 kitchens but wanted a decent countertop. I could not afford the granite and quartz i would have initially wanted so i went with laminate. I talked to several companies and Design Tops was one of the very few that dealt with it and blew out all the other competitors in speed, professionalism, and price. There were minor hiccups but were quickly rectified. They literally saved my projects and I would definitely call on them in a heartbeat for other projects and recommendations! Update: 2020 Used them again for another Project and they live up to their workmanship and promise of keeping their customers happy. Definitely the go to people for your...
