So I love this store. It's got a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the employees are all polite and really great at customer service. I like to go to the butcher area and get their taco meat when I come in, because that stuff is delicious to cook up with eggs, or eat as street tacos.
Their produce is very inexpensive. If you're looking for a great place to buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and even meat, this place is a great alternative to that other big chain supermarket that you know you don't wanna go to because it's so crowded, but there feels like there's nowhere else to shop because things are just getting so expensive all over town.
If you wanna buy soda here, I'd suggest buying their generic store brand fruit soda, because they really don't competitively price their name brand soft drinks, and I'm not sure why. I wouldn't ding them for that in their stars, but it's something I've noticed. Ranch dressing is also not competitively priced for whatever reason. Bread and milk is close enough to being a decent price, and so are the eggs.
Basically, if you're looking for things other than fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, then you'll pay a little extra for the convenient location and lack of there being a mob of people inside, similar to going to any grocery store other than Walmart, really.
Their hot food is delicious. Come here for all your tamale needs! I'm serious, they're only about $1.50 per tamale, I think it was, maybe even less. Sorry I don't remember the exact price. I'll edit and put it in the next time I get one. They also have fresh made horchata, and you know you need some of that rice milk in your life.
If you see Paris there working the register, tell her she works too much and to take an occasional day off. She's got great customer service, and always makes everyone...
Read moreThis is a mixed review. That will come out in a positive note. While this is not my type of grocery store due to the nature of the local demographic that I do not qualify for, I have found a way to be in harmony with the store's criterion. For me, it is the kind if the store that I only grab stuff for that says BBQ or night dinner. Just onesie, those things. They are geared to an ethnic-specific crowd which can be frustrating at times. I have learned how to work with this. This is the kind if the store that I like to shop for large gatherings and parties. Their meat department does carry quality and heavier priced portions of meat. They do. Traditionally, the dishes that best come from this culture are made with a variety of less expensive meats. Personally, I love street Tacos and fajitas. The butcher is always pleasant. Produce is also geared this way. I never run short on Mangos or peppers. On a pleasant note, they do carry desert plants that are a treat. Paddle cactus, fruits from a variety of wild or native that are an elite. Their bake area is small but always good things. Their liquor and beer are also geographical. The store is a small outdated building but fits in the neighborhood perfectly. The store is always clean. This store also has a Western Union service, tiny jewelry shop and a barber. The staff is very pleasant and always busy instead of standing around. I truly have no complaints about the place, it is sort of like that one odd friend you have but still...
Read moreThere were 3 men standing outside when I arrived that followed me into the store and while I shopped. They were making me feel super uncomfortable because they were not buying anything just following me. I got to the checkout and they disappeared. I let the cashier (colton) know what was going on and how uncomfortable I felt. I asked him if there was anyone who could walk me to my car. With no concern at all he said "they are probably just trying to get you to buy something, and we dont have anyone who could walk you to your car". After I paid I noticed they were standing outside where I entered. I decided to go out the other exit and run to my car. I jumped in my car as fast as I could and locked the doors and looked at them. A white van that was parked out front sped away and the guys looked at me and looked frustrated. I was seriously scared and I'm a marine veteran. Please be careful out there !!!!!! I will not be returning to...
