Blown Away Salon — Local services in Gloucester Point

I have been going to Blown Away Salon (BAS) in Hayes for a several months now on a consistant basis and I am blown away (no pun intended) by the service and staff at BAS.

I started looking into BAS because I saw a poor review on Facebook where a gal was chastizing them for the way they cut their sons hair and I was like there is more to this story, so I contacted them via email to find out what services they offer and pricing, within a few hours I had an appointment booked for everything I needed that afternoon.

When I arrivied at the salon it was a cute little place that was clean and everyone seemed to be happy. They even have a little boutique in the front that has apparel, beauty supplies and more! BAS was very welcoming and extremely inclusive regardless as to who you are they welcome you with open arms.

So back to my initial visit, I met with Michelle and we discussed what I was looking for and a little history about my past hair cuts. She proceeded to give me a fantastic hair cut, trimmed my unruly beard then went on to get some waxing done and I must say it was one of the best salon experiences I have has since moving to Virginia 3 years ago. (Prior to moving to the east coast I had been going to the same salon for over 10 years - im sure you know how hard it is to find a place that will take care of you like you are used too)

The pricing for standard services seemed the norm to me from past salons visits in Virginia, the pricing for waxing is a bit high, however, Im a firm beleiver that you pay for what you get and am willing to spend a bit more for quality services.

On a side note, if your modest about waxing certain areas, they make you feel extremely comfortable and at times you end up forgetting that you are getting waxed - until they pull the wax strip off then your like oh yea, its not all dandilions and rainbows, but its quick and well worth it for the end result.

From the first time I went into BAS, to the most recent time (yesterday) I feel like I am part of the BAS family and always feel so welcomed - even on days that I dont really feel like "peopling" they always seem to get me out of that feeling and end up chatting the the appointment away.

Not sure why this popped up to review on Google in haven't been here in years...the last time I went I had a good stylist by the name of Mindy that straightened my hair for me multiple times and even did my hair for my wedding...I loved her hospitality and her work!!! You can tell she loves what she does. I will never go back though!!!! My last experience there was a women that came to the counter while Mindy checked me out for the hair cut and straighten. I dont remember her name but the asia women started yelling at me how she got a poor tip from a customer she did 200$ worth of work on the customers hair... I thought to myself why the hell is she yelling at me cause I was a not the women that did that to her?????...she went on about how much to tip and why people don't do it?????......i always gave my stylist Mindy great tips 25 to 30% of what the hair cut cost I'm not shy about that cause I've worked as a server and know how that goes.......🤔 I don't know if she was stereotyping me, just had a bad day or what but attitude towards customers and treating them with respect is very important to me...this women as NEVER done my hair when I've gone there anytime in the past when Mindy wasn't there and they told me she could fix my hair I...

I've left several reviews for this wonderful place but if you have ever experienced Blown Away Salon!! You will keep doing it as well. Since the last few times I've been there the BUISNESS has improved ,if that's possible, because it's always been great place to go if you want to be pampered,feel beautiful,look beautiful!! Now they have a boutique of clothing lines that will improve your beauty even more!!! Blown away now offers clothing,shoes and all accessories that will make you feel like a million dollars when you leave! Along with your healthy hair supplies to take home that the artist provide you that is best for your hair!!!! They also have so many other surprizes to make you feel wonderful about yourself!!
