I went to Allure in October to get my hair lightened and colored for my 30th birthday. (My husband Jereme and I moved here a yr ago and he recommended I go here because his high school friend owns it and he has always heard good things) I wanted a major change with my hair after spending my first yr as a trauma nurse in covid hell. My hair is super dark and super thick with a red tint to it in the sun and I wanted to change it to a lighter auburn with Carmel highlights everywhere creating a lighter look overall. I found a picture of exactly what I wanted and brought it to the appointment with me. When I first got there the staff was super friendly. The entire salon looked clean and gorgeous which relaxed me. During my appt the stylist tells me she is 3 days out of school, which tensed me up, but then she was asking other stylists for opinions on the best way to achieve the hair I wanted in the picture which made me feel better. She didn't use a lightener on my hair so my hair basically just laughed at the dye attempt. I kept saying that it wasn't lighter but she kept insisting that once it dried it would be. It wasn't. I felt so disappointed that I just payed and went to my car and sobbed. I felt so ignored, belittled, and horrible. My husband said he didn't notice any difference and told me to go back and ask to speak to a manager. It took me a week because I work 12hr night shifts but when I went back in they just talked in circles and then said they would call the owner and that she would get back to me. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. It's been more than 3 months now and zero...
Read moreI'm usually a person who reads reviews before I go somewhere and since I most likely will not be coming back (at least not with the same stylist), here is my experience.
The first 3 times I went for a cut everything was great. I thought I actually found a place I liked! But my latest experience was horrible and I will not be going back to that same stylist ever again. Apparently this last time my stylist booked my cut in between a color - which I totally understand.to try and maximize time. She rushed though my entire cut and the gave me attitude when I asked to blow dry my hair (as she had done 2 out of the last 3 appointments). It was 35 degrees out and late at night and I didn't want to leave with wet hair.
While blow drying my hair she tells me that they technically are supposed to charge $15 dollars more to style my hair but that most stylists don't . almost like she was threatening to charge me. First off, Ive NEVER been to a place that charges to blow dry hair and run it through with a straightner quickly after. And if that is policy, why was she only bringing it up my fourth time there? It does not say anywhere on the website that a blow dry is extra.
Overall the salon is nice and I think my stylist was rushed due to poor planning of appointments snd took out her frustrationson me. So just be very wary of hidden charges if you go and ask for a full hour. I was in and out the doors of my house in 45 minutes. Not worth the $50...
