I love the scent when I step inside. It harkens back to a meat market in Detroit when I was a little kid in the 60s. Now I wish Grand Haven had a comparable old world style bakery to match. Great sausages, fudge and stuffed cabbages. My favorite sausage is the smoked kielbasa. I shop with a strict list. My sister and husband go in and buy more than what's on the list. Knowledgeable counter staff. Friendly cashier. There is only one drawback. I wish the butchers would craft hurka, a kind of rice and pork sausage. I had another business custom make it and they put in all the best, lean meats. Real sausage uses heart meats etc. I'm old fashion, I know, but I like traditional hurka. It tastes better. For a decade I've asked the guys if they'd make some. So far none...

The cheese spread made in house is delicious, the selection and price of meat is exceptional, and they have a decent selection of staple groceries. Went in today told the kid I wanted 2 8 oz filets and the first thing he does is reach for the 2 crappiest ones in the case. I redirected him to 2 better ones got a little attitude from him then asked for a delmanaco I didn’t watch him pick it this time get home to find a small cut with lots of fat. Very disappointed. I’m sure I will give them another try but at their prices I will watch them...
