Came here with my family. Our waitress took a little bit to get to us once our party arrived, but it was no big deal. Times are hard and finding staff can be hard. We had chips and salsa which was fine. I didn’t care for it, but the bean dip was good. I figured it was preference. Our party orders, my wife’s changes their mind after a moment to a meal with a chalupa, I order two chalupas. Our son gets chicken strips and fries. I didn’t know the difference between strips and tenders, but apparently there is.
Food comes out and the waitress had balanced the plates a little too close together so the bottom of one was on top of a sauce which then plopped onto the table. Gross. I figure she didn’t see it.
Chicken strips were long, thin slices of chicken that were breaded and fried. It was so bizarre. It was like octopus tentacles. Had asked for ranch, which she said they had, and ended up with ketchup. Whatever, not a big thing.
My chalupas that were listed to have beef tips were just ground beef, we found some that were pink which the manager denied seeing when it was pointed out. My wife received a meal that had a taco rather than a chalupa (which was the whole point of switching). The chalupa shells crumbled anytime you tried to pick them up and the lettuce was…sad and unappetizing. Everything was drenched in a sauce.
The bean dip my wife ordered ended up having bell peppers in it (not listed), the beans on the side had them (which is when my wife finally saw them), and in the rice (also not listed).
We point out some of these issues with the waitress and she seemed irritated and went to go talk with the manager. We assured her that we weren’t upset with her and knew these issues weren’t necessarily her fault.
Manager comes over, says he didn’t see any under done meat. Asks what we want to eat instead. We say we don’t. He basically says “whatever I won’t charge you”. The waitress comes over, clears the table and says “We’re not charging you. Have a good night.” which was the best way she could tell us to get out.
Three out of five party members have been sick this evening since.
I pride myself on supporting local business and leaving good reviews. This, however, was probably the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I will not be back. I will not recommend...
Read moreThe front windows of this Grand Haven 'bar and grill' each had a poster for a different brew. It was Cinco De Mayo and unfortunately for us we had three small children with us. They offer NO children's menu items on this day. We were seated quickly, staff was pleasant, and restaurant was colorful! Restroooms, though labeled for men and women were large, clean, and the outer door locks making them family restroom appropriate. Menus are huge spiral bound, multiple pages. Seniors, children, vegan, and other specialty areas in the menu. Many, many choices. I chose the "special" which happened to be fajitas (chicken or steak). Sizzling hot steak, onions, peppers, and tomatoes mounded on a cast iron plate with 3 tiny four tortillas (perhaps 3.5" in diameter) arrived wrapped in foil. The tortillas, though very warm and soft were quite greasy for my liking. A separate plate with Mexican rice, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, and shredded lettuce was served with the entre. My food was quite good and the meal came with complimentary chips and salsa, free refills, and free refills on soft drinks. While understaffed, the staff present worked like a group of well organized ants so service was quick, accurate and efficient. While my food was near excellent, the other adults in our party were less enthusiastic including one whose meats (not fajitas) was too gristlely to chew. Thus, my three stars. Still, a place to revisit...
Read moreOverall: loud dining room, generic food, overly salty, poor quality food, decent service.
Two visits, one was dinner burrito entree to go, other was Rancho Burrito entree dine in.
To go order was a mess, server said they didn’t carry items listed on their menu but rang them up anyway, which cause the manager to get confused when the food that came out wasn’t on the receipt. Easily solved and good service from the manager. Food was ok, regular amerimexican food though its was pretty salty.
The dine in meal was just ok. Good fast service, loud dinner crowd in the dining area. Food was really bad. The table guacamole was watery, puréed green snot squeezed from a Gordon Foods bag. Basically inedible. The Rancho Burrito entree was ok, it tasted like all the other Americanized “Mexican” food, except both my and my dinner partner’s meat items were extremely salty - I think they did that so we would drink more. I’m not averse to salt, love it on most things, but not to this level. Either the meat was marinated way too long or just overly salted on the grill/griddle.
Would I come here again? Maybe with a group, but not by myself, and I’d stick with vegetarian options even though I love meat, just to avoid the...
