R/T Marine — Local services in Granite Shoals

NEVER Do business with these people! NEVER! Brought in our older 1985 20' BASSTRACKER with the 40 HP Mariner 2 cycle outboard to be serviced. Gave them one week to schedule this to happen on FRIDAY. Brought the boat in early Thursday to drop it off so they could begin work early as promised FRIDAY. Work to be done was to check the engine compression, plugs, replace the old grey fuel line with the new blue stuff, check fuel hoses, change the wheel bearings in the trailer and check it out overall since we just purchased one week prior! Sounds like a pretty simple task RIGHT!.....WRONG!.....Drove in around 3:00 PM and they had just fired up the motor! No new wheel bearings, no new fuel line just checked the compression and replaced 2 spark plugs! HELLO! What in the HECK did you do for the 5 hours prior to me coming in? I'm pissed now... They tell me that I need a replacement license plate light! YES I know that, then they fire up the motor as I stand at the counter.......They come back and tell me NOW that it needs a CARB repair kit for $260.00 and 3 HOURS of labor at $120.00 PER HOUR! REALLY $120.00 per hour buys me a attorney! NOT a boat repair mechanic! We are out in the middle of no place and it seems to me that they prey on this being one of the ONLY Marine places around Lake LBJ in Central Texas! So, I said "Wrap it up, I'm taking it home" ! Little pissed! YOU BET! For a business to make a promise that the boat would be ready FRIDAY for me to pickup and not deliver or even get 1/3 of the way done is just beyond my belief! How businesses continue to stay open while doing this to customers amazes me..Will I take the boat back? NEVER! Will I recommend them to my boating friends ? NEVER IN A HEART BEAT! I'm done doing business with people who cannot do what they say...

I have used RT Marine about 3 times over the past 10 years. I have to say that this past time I was treated very rudely by Megan. She was never understanding, never polite, treated me like she hated even having to talk to me about my boat repair. It started that way from the beginning of me making an appointment and went all the way to the day of payment. Also the invoice I received reflected her annoyance also. The invoice was extremely high and I was always told I would receive calls and bids on what is needed so that I could make a decision prior to receiving an extremely high invoice. I never received any calls unless I called myself and then still she would never give a good explanation or even know the answer.. Bill is the owner and has always been good to me. I have had lower units torn apart and and STILL NEVER PAID MORE THAN $400. THE HOURS THEY SPENT ON THE BOAT IN THE SHOP WAS NO MORE THAN ONE HOUR BUT THEY CHARGED ME 3 TIMES THAT! The lake test I am sure is accurate at 1 hour to test it on the lake so only validity to the invoice. I definitely wont recommend them to all my friends and family unless they make this...

Brought these guys my 99 blue wave to try and fix a 150 black max that a shop had charged me to rebuild. After getting it back they had not rebuilt it at all. Rt marine told me what it would take to make it right witch was quite a bit more than I was willing to spend on this engine that was becoming a money pit. I had him give me a quote on a new 150 proxs and everything me and my father wanted.After reviewing the estimate and authorization by us was confirmed .These guys took less than 1.5 days to totally rig out my boat. It was amazing. Lake tested and turn key in less than 2 days!!!Unreal turn around time. After looking at the amazing job they did and real professionalism they used to take care of us I wouldn't take my boat any where else. Thanks guys yall really...
