La Cabaña Restaurant — Restaurant in Granite Shoals

After years of coming here and ordering the exact same tacos, with only one incremental price increase, we are officially done driving from out of town to purchase food from here. The excessively long wait was never a big concern. For the price and quality, we felt it was totally worth it and just made adjustments to our schedule accordingly. The tacos we buy are basic. We have never paid more than $14 for all 4. Now, it's $20. $20 for the most basic breakfast tacos you can buy. Different lady rang us up and said the lady before must have been giving us a discount and that they have "had problems" with her. Nonetheless, we are not talking about once or twice but very frequent (weekly) purchases. I've read where others have been overcharged and never put much thought into it since we never had that experience. Different lady, new prices. She said they upped the prices 2 months ago (which we have been since then) but even the total that she calculated for the "previous" price was $17. Something not right and when you run a cash business, I guess you can change the prices per customer and nobody would know. The only reason they get 2 stars is because their tacos...

I was staying a few nights in Granite Shoals so I did some research on the local restaurants. I couldn't believe how many people kept giving this particular place such nice reviews. Had to try it. NO REGRETS. The food was everything people said it was - authentic. And the prices were reasonable. It is a small mom and pop shop - my type of place. I wish I could find a place like this in Houston. Me and the misses went for breakfast and were both pleased. We went back again for dinner, but it closes early (3:00). Great Tacos and food. Family loves the breakfast menu. However, be wary of ordering the chips as they might break a tooth or two. I’m not sure if they’re over cooked or used over and over. Don’t eat inside during the summer no Central AC and let me tell you it felt like I was in the Sahara. Also, seems to be only one waitress at all times, we were never asked for refills or if we needed anything in the hour we were present. I was crushing up left over ice and drinking...
