This review is going to be in two parts (with subsections), and not both are bad, but the overall is a two star rating. It should be noted that we live approximately 100 miles away from the good wood shop.
We ordered roughly $7,000.00 worth of custom countertops. The cottonwood is beautiful. Good review. They can cut wood and make it pretty. When it was delivered to our house the sink portion was not included in the shipment. The cabinet contractor said "Chris (at Good Wood) said he never got the measurements for the cutout." I personally saw the emails sent to Chris by my wife that included the measurements and was personally there when she called and left several messages. Additionally, when my wife dropped off the sink, she spoke with Chris who confirmed he had the measurements. Obviously Chris was lying to the cabinet guy to cover not having cut the sink portion. No apology was provided. 2.1 After leaving approximately a dozen messages (over the course of a 4 days) between my wife and I, we received a call back saying they would cut out the sink part with the "newly received" measurements. No apology was provided. 2.2 After being without a kitchen sink for over a week, the cut out on the countertops were done. When I went to pick it up, I was provided with the sink parts. The sink parts were missing practically everything actually needed to mount the sink. Including the instructions. My bad for not opening the box and inventorying the contents. 2.3 After another dozen calls and messages, my wife finally received a call back stating that they had found the missing parts in the back of the wood shop. No apology was provided. 2.4 A colleague of ours was traveling through GF and picked up the remaining parts. Which, of course was missing the faucet mounting nut. We had called at least half a dozen times asking to "make sure the faucet mounting nut is IN THE BOX coming to us." Not one call was returned.
Now...we were warned that there was very little communication between the Good Wood Guys and customers. This is fine if your contractor can deal with laziness, lack of customer service, and frankly just plain lack of caring for what happens once they cash the check. If you are dealing with them yourselves...once you leave the show room (which...honestly was a very pleasant experience...they are great in person) don't expect too much. Also, don't expect a "thank you for your $7K business" or any kind of maintenance tips for your product. We didn't receive any. Overall - 2 stars. Customer service is ABYSMAL. I would travel an additional 100 miles to be...

I want to share our disappointing experience with The Good Wood Guys. My father and I hired them to manufacture a table and benches, spending $6,000. Unfortunately, this company and its owner, Chris, were extremely unprofessional and uncooperative once the payment was made.
The problems began with the table's seam lines, especially in the center, which were noticeably crooked and not parallel. While we understood that live edges create organic outer edges. Chris justified his crooked cuts by claiming my father “never specified the need for a straight center seam”, which seems like common sense. This excuse was unacceptable, as we expected a certain level of quality for the price.
In addition to the crooked seams, the table had multiple scratch marks and uneven surfaces. There were also issues with resin-filled holes, where bubbles and cracks were evident. My father did agree to do finishing work on the table, however, he wasn’t able to get out deep scratches because of the fine grit of sandpaper that he was using Camera, which is standard for finishing work. Despite my father's efforts to work with Chris to fix these issues, the results were disappointing. Although Chris redid the table, he only partially addressed the issues by fixing center seam, but now all the parallel seam are crooked , ignoring other critical flaws.
Chris's attitude was highly unprofessional throughout the process. He claimed that his work was "art" and could not be critiqued, refusing to acknowledge any mistakes. He lied multiple times to my father, making the entire experience frustrating and disheartening.
I strongly advise against using The Good Wood Guys. I’m sure there will be some longer rebuttal about this review, however, the proof is in the picture..They charge premium prices but deliver poor and sloppy craftsmanship. Save your money and look for a more reliable and professional...
Read moreThis is a long time coming upload I have had this desk for about 4 years now. I decide to use a softer piece of wood and did my first epoxy desk. I added heavy duty hardware to allow for. Sit or stand position of the desk. Motors can lift over 800lbs quietly. I ripped the two slabs and joined them. The rough sanded as I wanted to keep the natural look of the live edge. I also enjoy the pitting give a lot of character. I used a flexible piece of fiber siding then taped everything and pour the epoxy with. Blue sparkling fleck. Anywho I love the desk and wantwd to give props to these guys for giving me. Good piece...
