Quaint little shop. The worker seemed nice. There's not a huge selection of stuff. It's mainly super heroes comics and manga, but there was a small unique section that had resources for learning Japanese. Almost every manga was missing Volume 1 and 2... I know they can order it on demand, but so I can for like the same price and have it on my door... I'd like to be able to support little shops like this, but you gotta have the first volumes in stock at all times if you want new customers... there were a few posters, but they were kind of a jumbled mess. There were also a few random action figures, but not a huge selection. I know in our case that I would have had a kid begging for a figure/doll, which I would have purchased, if the selection was there.
There was a weird moment where the only other customers whole we were there, two, I believe adult, girls were looking between the shelves and the little girl I was with was saying something about, "maybe I could get something for demon slayer, I've watched enough videos to know almost everything from it, but .." and while I didn't hear it, the little girl says that the two young adult girls mocked her. We had this discussion at the counter in front of the employee right after I missed this interaction. I wasn't 100% sure that everything was heard accurately or if the girls were teenagers or adults and they were now not in view, so I wasn't about to storm up to them and scream at them or whatever, but especially if these girls are frequent visitors to the shop, I hope the employee might have mentioned to them that they shouldn't harass ten year old customers for being excited about what is clearly their...
Read moreAside from going to an anime convention in NYC or Pittsburgh or San Francisco, this is probably the best source I have found for everything Japanese Animation. Whether it is manga graphic novels, old manga comic books, Anime magazines, or even toys and CDs, this store will most likely have it.
The comics I showed in the picture are practically impossible to find unless you buy them online. Shipping cost can be as much as the comic books themselves, and usually you need to buy full sets of a series.
This store cuts all of those issues out. They had everything I could think of in regards to 80's and 90's manga comics (dark horse especially). They also carry new comics (both American and Japan).
If you want to find old rare Japanese 80's and 90's VHS series this place has it....and what is nice is the condition on those VHS tapes are good. This store even has rare out of print Anime DVDs. Closest place I found for stuff like this is in San Francisco.
Definitely worth a look and visit from all...
Read moreLovely shop whether you're looking for western or Japanese comics. There's a wide selection with new titles and issues available every week. And if you can't find what you're looking for than Steve, the owner and sole employee, can likely order it for you. All you need do is ask. He's also bringing back the manga punch cards. Ten punches gets you a free normal price volume!
Steve as a person is an awesome guy and usually up for a talk about a variety of nerdy subjects if he has time. I've been going here since I picked up a love of Japanese media in my tween years. Definitely a local place that should see...
