We have been using Camp Chinquapin for our Borador for 4 years. Grooming, doggie daycare and boarding. Yesterday, we sent a family member to pick up our doggie. We were stuck in traffic out of town and were not going to make it during the pick up time. This family member had never met our doggie and had also never been to Camp Chinquapin. I called as soon as they opened and paid the bill over the phone and advised the employee of the aforementioned details. She assured she would help with the collar and leash. My family member walked in and said she was there to pick up Margaery, who btw is an 80 lb black fluffy girl dog. She helped my family member with the collar, leash and gave her my receipt. When they got to our home with the dog it would not go in the crate. She FaceTimed me and that when I saw a brown male Doberman Pinscher walking around my house, where my 3 adult cats and an 8 week old kitten live. My family member then struggled to get Diesel the Doberman back out of our house and in the car, to be returned to Camp Chinquapin. Needless to say it was a very anxiety filled situation with a strange dog that could have potentially hurt my family members as well as my other beloved pets! This morning we expected a phone from the manager or the owner in regards to the situation. When we called back there during the chaos we could hear that Diesel’s dad was not happy about the situation either. We assumed they would want to do some damage control due to our consistent patronage over the last 4 years but we did not get a phone call. When we called, we were told that the employee working on Sunday said that she apologized and everyone was fine. We were not fine. We were upset that a huge mistake like this could have happened in the first place. She also told the manager and owner that my family member said she was there to pick up diesel. Which I know didn’t happen because the employee helped my family member put Margaery’s collar and leash and also gave her my receipt with Margaery’s name on it. The manager was great at listening apologizing but she has to report to an owner of the business. Which we understood, we reached out to the owner and he said he was called about it yesterday but was too busy at Monster Jam with his grandson, so he couldn’t be bothered and didn’t call this morning because he’s a problem solver and there was no problem. If you find that you are comfortable leaving your beloved pet here for any reason after this, I hope the employee working yesterday is terminated and moving forward the owner will do a better job with training his employees to better represent his business and reputation in the community. As for me and my family we will never use Camp Chinquapin again and we will tell everyone we can to stay away from thus...
Read moreI took my dog here to be groomed recently. He has been before and I warned them that he is a rescue and before we got him had a cracked pelvis injury. He very rarely shows any signs of it and when he does its just a slight limp. Has never shown that it bothers him when being picked up or handled but I like for anyone who handles him to be aware of it. He is very vocal, but wouldn't hurt a fly. I was informed when I picked him up that the groomer would no longer be willing to groom him with out sedation! I couldn't believe this, his other groomer that we use (because we hadn't made a decision on who to use yet) has never mentioned this and loves him, even knows him by name(needless to say, she will be the only one we use for now on!)
I went home, very upset over this because he is like my child and if he was "in need of sedation" I can only imagine that he was very scared and uncomfortable. A few hours later when I was giving him belly rubs, I noticed 3 perfectly finger shaped BRUISES on the inside of his thigh! I am simply with out words on this subject and don't understand how anyone who works with animals could hold one down enough to bruise him. I would have much rather they called me and said that they will be unable to groom him, than for him to be hurt like that. No wonder he was upset and didn't want...
Read moreMy puppy started the daycare here a few months ago. They have a swinging door at the desk where they keep the small dogs up front behind the desk... My puppy is 8 months old and 4pds that gets excited to see people and other dogs. If anyone behind the desk opened the gate, they wouldn't watch her, and she would escape. Well, due to nothing being done to fix the problem, they let her escape outside to the parking lot and luckily was able to catch her. I only found this out through a family member telling me. The only thing they would do is put her in a kennel alone all day. When I found out she escaped outside, I went and picked her up and was told she could only return if I got her training through Andy... the "trainer" at Chinquapin...haha, when I called Andy for help and he tells me no, he will not train my dog and she is not allowed back unless she goes outside in the yard with the big dogs. Really, you want to put a 4pd Chorkie outside with 50-100pd dogs...So I told them if they aren't willing to help train a 8 month old puppy she would not be back. And they could care less... so if you have a puppy that loves people and other dogs I would not recommend this place!! If you want someone to train your puppy, good luck with Andy. His attitude about my dog was uncalled for!!
Sincerely a very...
