Visited the Cinema in Greenwood, SC today and watched the Star Wars movie. The outside of the cinema is being updated. The ticket counter service was good. The concession area was another story and as such enables me to reveal my experience using this review. They had many folks behind the counter but their efficiency was lacking. They would run into each other and were very slow to deliver orders to customers. This has not been the case previously when we visited the cinema. It was a bit confusing to figure out which lines were open because the lobby area was so full of customers waiting to get popcorn and drinks. At least one customer complained that his movie had started and he would be late. We were 20 minutes early and this was not a problem for us. The refillable bucket option is no longer available. The refillable bucket was the main reason we liked to go to the movies despite the $$$. Instead of a refillable bucket they have a "lunch bag" that has a noticeable smaller opening at the top, making it less desirable. I was not the only patron to note that the bucket option had been discontinued. No reason was given by the servers when asked about the change from bucket to refillable lunch sack for the popcorn.
I left my Star Wars movie to get a drink and popcorn refill and was gone about 15 minutes because of the long lines and confusion at the concession area. It would be nice to have a dedicated area or attendant to watch for refills so that those of us missing our movie might not have to wait 15 minutes in the long lines to get refills. To expect us Southern folks to cut in line just to get a refill is not reasonable; it goes against our Southern up bringing to be so rude.
The seats and floor were very clean but the sound system was average. They could take a lesson from NewSpring Church and put in some better woofers...
Read moreThe staff is young but wonderful. The place is always clean including the restrooms. Food is good too. I debated on reviewing until after my next visit but decided it is what it is. The reson for the 4 and not 5 stars...My husband and i waited for the new Godzilla movie to come out and chose to go on i believe a Wednesday evening. When we got there it was still spaced and not self serve...all a great health move that we liked. When it was time for the movie to start it started the Tom and Jerry showing so they stopped it and told us it would be set up in 15 mins. 45 mins went by and we were still waiting so he went to go check again...to be told it was going to be another hour before they would have the movie ready. They did offer a rain check, we could wait, or our money back. We got our money back bc i had work the next day and couldnt wait any longer. It was already 1045. Now, we went on Friday for a showing of the new F9 movie. Again my husband and i had been waiting since we found out the date release in March. We got literally 45 into the movie and it just froze. It was another waiting game then told another hour. This time we just left. Its not life or death so we didnt complain. We arent complainers. However, maybe an upgrade on the equipment would do the movies a good deal of help. That way when incidents happen they can get it up and going quickly. I understand we cant help our equipment at times so its not like we made a big stink about it but it was a big disappointment. Will we come back? Of course. We are movie goers and the kids they hire really are awesome and are friendly. The seats are super comfortable and its definitely worth it. All in all its a great movie theater just has some glitches..quite...
Read moreFor where it’s come from, definitely seen upgrades. However greenwood cinema sees how other cinemas have stayed relevant and blindly attempts to copy them. They have upgraded the seats. In a decade of being behind they brought out the “big guns” with the most popular feature of modern cinema being upgraded. The seating, it is now reclining. HIZZAH! upon checking out the revamp of my local cinema however. I was disappointed to find a majority of the other components are still decades old! From the projectors to the sound system. Right away it’s noticeably dated. Imo much more important than dear waitlist in the cinema experience. I must admit the most recent experience seeing avatar sequel, the sound was better. So maybe they are working on this. But I felt compelled to leave this review due to overall sloppy management and the absolute kicker. One of these new fancy seats I paid for via reservation FAILED MECHANICALLY!!! From the time I walked in the seat didn’t move or recline leaving me in an uncomfortable position. I think this theater is trying but it is found quite lacking and quite lost on how to remain competitive in todays market.
If you’re wanting the cinema experience of a movie you actually care about? Consider driving up to an hour away to do so because otherwise the experience may just leave you wondering why you bothered to give these guys another chance just because they pulled out...
