Disappointed!- I have been to a few places for game processing in the portland metro area. I would have to say this is not one of my favorite places. When I dropped off the meat the guy was very polite and helpful. From there it all seemed to roll down hill. The time frame went about three weeks past the approximate date. However that part you come to expect when getting sausage and pepperoni made. The communication between drop off and pick up was rude and inconsiderate. They acted like they were my customer and it was there way or no way. I wasn't being difficult or expecting anything out of the ordinary. Just simple standard questions about pick up and payment. Now that I have picked up my items they are not packaged correctly at all. I asked for packages for a family of six. Instead I have about 20 sausages per package. the pepperoni is packaged larger than what you would see in a retail setting on a store counter. Not to mention about 30% of the packages are not even sealed. All of my sausage and pepperoni now has to be thawed and re packaged. The pepperoni is dry and tastes like there is too much cure in it. The jalapeño cheddar summer sausage is probably about the only thing packaged in a reasonable size and tastes ok but the cheap cheese they used is melted and greasy. The only positive I have to say is there meat counter had great prices. I would consider buying meat from them at some point but I will never take my game there again. I would suggest they consider the expense and effort that goes into it for the people dropping off there game to them. While to them it may just be another order but for us its a year of planning, expenses and memories that cannot be...
Read moreI used to love this spot, but it seems that they have a difficult time doing anything different than what they normally do, although they will state that they are able to do so. I called White's before I headed over and asked if they would be able to to slice some bacon a bit thinner than what they offer in their display cases. I mentioned that it was for a paté i was making and the gentleman on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem. I went in to get some bacon and explained to the nice person at the front counter that I called in requesting bacon a bit thinner sliced. They said no problem and went and sliced a few slices. I picked the one that would be a good thickness (or thinness, in this case) and they had the person go and slice up a lb of it. When they came back with it, it was thicker than the previous slice they showed me and the bacon was cut at about a 45° angle on the end. It was also shredded on the edges and looked nothing like the bacon that they have on display. I explained to the nice person at the counter that this was thicker than the previous slice and they agreed with me. Eventually, I just got the bacon and used it for lining my paté. I wish I would not have because it made it look sub-par and I am highly disappointed. Especially for $10.99/lb. The flavor of the bacon is fine, but the look...Very disappointing. I will be looking to other meat...
Read moreMy husband always says ribeye steaks are the best. And he treated me to one on Saturday and he BBQ it on Sunday. It’s my first time having a Ribeye. I usually love T-bone steaks. But I thought I would see why he loves these steaks. And I don’t understand why they were $18 something a pound and there’s pieces that are grissle and hard to eat. You can’t pull it apart with your hands. And it’s not from over cooking it. And some of it has fat mixed into it and you’re eating and then you hit fat and that is gross!
So if this is what Ribeye is I’m extremely disappointed! And it shouldn’t be $18 a pound it should be $4.99 a pound it’s like round steak! This is just a little bit of the steak the rest of it is in the refrigerator and the bottom ones in the picture I can’t eat! And there were pieces I threw away yesterday that I couldn’t eat too.
On a T-bone I only throw away the bone there’s never grissle or fat hidden in the meat or hard tendon pieces like in...
