Gradin Community Sports Park is a typical city owned and city maintained Sports Park with a full sized Soccer Pitch, 2 Baseball/Softball Diamonds and a Jogging Trail that encircles the park.
The sports fields are fenced off and kept locked up. The fields can be reserved or rented out by calling the City Parks Department and making the appropriate reservations. I am not sure if the city charges any fees when reserving a field but I would assume it is likely that they do.
In my opinion the park is designed well and it is pretty nice but if I was able to change anything about the park or improve upon it, I do have a couple of ideas.
First, I think the park needs a fenced off-leash area for dogs. Although a Dog Park doesn't fit the theme of a "Sports Park", dog owners are among the park's most frequent daily users. Also, the park has a few large fields that aren't used for any specific purposes. These fields, or any part of them could be converted to an off-leash area and really all it would take would be to install a fence with some gates.
Secondly, I think the park also needs a basketball court or courts to be added to the park grounds. There is plenty of room to include a court(s) and it would be an easy way to expand the park's amenities.
These two additions would make the park more appealing to larger group of park patrons and could easily be done. Having said that, the park is still a nice place in the neighborhood to go for a walk or to get together with some friends for some batting practice or a pick-up-game of football.
The 3 most positive aspects or my most favorite things about Gradin Community Sports Park are: •The Park's parking lot is large and has ample parking. •The Park's fields & grounds are well maintained and kept clean. •There is plenty if bleacher seating for spectators near all of the sports fields.
The 3 most negative aspects or my least favorite things about Gradin Community Sports Park are: •There are no public restroom facilities available. •There are no covered areas, there are no day use areas and there are no picnicking areas available. •The Park's parking lot has only one entrance/exit that is controlled by a gate which will automatically close around dusk. (Which means that if you don't move your car outside of the gated area before the gate closes, your car could be stuck in the parking...

Read moreDecent sports park located near several apartment complexes and schools. Good place to take a well trained dog as well as let the kids play and burn off some energy. It's fairly quiet and depending on the time of day it can be very peaceful. In the evenings and weekends it can get crowded with many games taking place there but even then it is still a nice place to visit. The entrance is located between the soccer and baseball fields and the lot is a decent size so it's not usually too hard to find a...
