Few things I spend money on in this world are as important to me as my hair. God has given me glorious hair follicles, so they need to be given the respect they deserve. I have had several great barbers in my life--an important relationship for a man with hair better than James Dean and a more luxurious beard than Zeus--but Lauren is by far the greatest. Hollywood's A-List celebrities would look better if Lauren was their barberess. Men will search high and low for the best barber or barberess in the known universe, but I am happy to report that she has been found. Stop the search. There is nowhere else to look. Peak cosmetological greatness is located in Guyton, GA in a fun shop equipped with professional wrestling paraphernalia, a beautiful homage to the great Bob Ross, and hints of humor from The Office. I have never left Lo's Shop with a single hair out of place, a single line that isn't perfect, or a sense that I haven't just experienced greatness. I would pay double, nay triple or quadruple what I pay now for Lauren to curate greatness atop my head, but as it stands her prices are ridiculously reasonable and nowhere near an indication of how incredible she truly is. She is not just Effingham's Most Fabulous (after only being open for a few months), but she shall be crowned the GOAT. I don't instruct Lauren on what to do when I'm in her chair, she knows what I need and I dare not interfere: impeccable skin fade, exacting hard part, exquisite scissor cut, perfect lines, magnificent beard shaping, divine shampoo and hot towel, and essential eyebrow waxing. As if that wasn't enough, Lauren is one of the most humble professionals I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She remembers the details of our discussions from week-to-week, she is amazing when my children are in her chair, and she is down to earth and easy to talk to about anything. The shop is always clean and comfortable, the entertainment is readily available, and there isn't a detail missing from the barber pole to the vintage look/feel. I am amazed that any other shop within a 100 mile radius has any customers at all. Lo's shop should have an appointment waiting list at least 6 months long. Make sure you book early or else you will just have to settle when you go elsewhere. Don't settle. Experience greatness. I can't promise that you'll look like me, but you'll look far better...

I'm a local barber myself. So, why am I here? I have nothing but love for these two. We all have to make money and I don't agree with the catty, cut-throat culture of barbers/cosmetologists putting down others that do the same thing they do for a living. Not to mention, what we do is an art form and some people will prefer one artist over another and that is to be expected and perfectly acceptable. I worked with these girls for years, since the start of their haircutting careers. I work in a different area, not far from them. When my clients have asked about barbers in Guyton, or even when things have come up and I've had to take time off, I've suggested Lo's shop when my client's need a good haircut, by a friendly barber conveniently located near them.
I have now seen people come here, attempting to put a dent in their reputation because 1: one dude was mad that he was too late for his appointment š & now 2: because one barber has openly shown which presidential candidate she supports. I mostly get involved with local politics these days, myself. I'm not aligned with any political party. I don't care who you think you like or dislike. I, personally, think it matters that you do your research and think for yourself. Maybe step away from the media (social and otherwise) and what they want you to believe and read the policies for each candidate, yourself. KNOW what you're voting for.
"Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see."
Coming here and spreading BLATANT LIES about a person speaks to YOUR character, NOT theirs and NOT the candidate's that you're so angry about them supporting-no matter which one that may be.
To these "reviewers": you have some serious work to do on yourselves. You should focus your energy on that. And maybe spend some extra time with your family. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone and time is a thief. Don't spend precious time spreading lies and hate on the internet.
These girls are not "infecting" people, being racist, etc. But then, you really don't need me to tell you that. You already knew that when you came here, attempting to tarnish their reputations, and saw what people who really know them ACTUALLY think and feel about them. They are good people. What they put out into the world comes back to them.
Same with you,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHello everyone! I would like to show my appreciation for these two ladies, and their business! I have never been disappointed by their skill, and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. The prices are competitive and the atmosphere is so welcoming! Plus you can get a top notch shampoo, massage, and styling after your cut. I have a foot long beard and some curly behind hair, but they always get it right. It's worth the drive out there for sure. They both belive in developing a bond with every client, that way you know you're getting exactly what you want, if not better than you expected!
Just a couple hard working ladies who love what they do and love bringing a smile to...
