I had contacted a few different companies to replace an aging 17 year old AC/heat pump unit that was on its last legs and was contributing to a high electric bill as well as being loud from the fan motor groaning every time it started up. Hunter Charest came out and gave everything a good inspection. Not only that but he was the only one out of all the other HVAC sales reps that went into my crawlspace and made sure my duct work was in good condition before looking at the unit. I knew then that Pioneer was likely to be at the top of my list based on that alone. Not only that, but he went the extra mile of including a replacement UV sterilizer and iWave that was only roughly a year old that I had previously installed on the old unit. Furthermore, he explained in detail my best options for replacement units. After some consideration I took his advice and went with a top of the line 3 Ton Trane to replace a 2.5 ton Goodman. Not even 24 hours later Pioneer sent technician Glenn Berry out to my home for the new install. The old unit was removed, New unit was installed along with a new pad for it to sit on, and connecting ductwork that was done far better than on the previous unit as well as a more efficient drain pipe for the condenser that could be removed so that I can clean it routinely in the event it gets clogged, new whips, thermostat, the works! The best part was that their top of the line unit I went with was about $2.5k cheaper than standard Goodman unit that another company quoted me for install. All of this completed within 4 hours the next day after purchasing and it runs like a dream! Quiet, heats and cools well and hopefully saves me some money down the road once I get the next utility bill. I was so impressed with the whole experience that I went ahead and decided to drop my old maintenance plan with my former HVAC company and join The Pioneer Family to keep everything in tip top shape in the coming ever changing somewhat unpredictable seasons of East Tennessee. A good HVAC unit is not cheap in this day and age, but its an investment worth spending on. I'd give them 6 stars if I could and look forward to doing business with them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdited on 9/13/25. After posting this on the neighborhood app and having many people respond, I found out that Pioneers techs are salesman and get commission off of their sales. So the job is not necessarily based on the work that needs to be done, but quite likely the victims emergency level and how much they can pay. I was in a bind, my tech way overcharged me, but in the long run he saved me money. If it had been a little cheaper I would have used them again and still would have been overpaying. They will NEVER get a penny more from me and I will make sure everyone I see, talk to, or come in contact with at all knows what a ripoff company this is.
I had a water leak in my crawl space. I called on Friday and it was scheduled for Monday afternoon. The tech arrived and was at my house almost exactly an hour. I went into the crawl space with him because I needed to see how much water had leaked. The crawl space is encapsulated with white plastic and very clean. A piece of copper pipe needed to be replaced (small piece) as well as a cutoff valve replaced. The actual work took less than 30 minutes (he tried to sell me on a whole house pipe replacement for 14k). The parts could not have been more than $50, I would guess much less. The bill was for $906.66. So the labor was over $1700 per hour. That to me is ridiculous. I have a family member having surgery in a few days and had to get my hot water back on or I would have found someone else to do the job. In my opinion it is 2 or 3 times what it should cost. I was amazed on how many 5 star ratings they have received until I got a text asking me to review my tech and "if our tech gave you a 5 star experience we will buy them lunch". The tech was great. But the pricing was outrageous. It was not the weekend, a holiday, or an emergency service. The space is fine so no hazard pay involved. Beware of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst service experience ever. Called for issues with a 4-way light switch. Extremely poor service experience. Paid over $850 for approximately 40 minutes of āworkā (when 5 to 10 minute bathroom break, discussion on difficulties getting a ladder to reach the ceiling, and time to retrieve tool from vehicle taken into consideration). End result was being told (not confidently) that there may or may not be a junction box somewhere that may or may not have caused the problem. He did mention possibly using wire tracers to get to the root of the problem but ended up suggesting a complete re-wire with a rough estimate of $3000 not counting all of the drywall repair that would need to be done afterward! Sanity kicked in and I asked him to leave. Luckily, a skilled professional was able to look at the issue and resolve it for me in under an hour and a fraction of that $850 cost as in their words, ājust a matter of following the wires through the circuit to understand what each one does.ā I did reach out to Pioneer multiple times to discuss this poor service experience. I wanted to talk with them before posting a review. It has now been a couple of days and still no reply. Obviously, would not recommend.
Just wanted to post an update. I did call Pioneer twice and NEVER heard back from those calls. We received a second invoice for the above service, same amount, despite the check from that day clearing our bank. After complaining this time about being charged twice, we did receive a call from their Electrical supervisor, Rob. He said we were billed for 2 hours of service. My Ring shows the actual amount of time their repairman was at our home. We explained this. They did not offer any refund. Once again, I would not recommend...
