This isn't the review that I was planning to write. I was hoping that after we got home from our vacation and I saw how happy Zander was I'd sit down to write a review to get the discount on our next visit. Sadly Zander passed away halfway through our trip.
From the moment Rich called me to break the news through this whole nightmare process he couldn't have been more apologetic and sympathetic. We were on a cruise in Bermuda so our daughter stepped in to handle all that needed to be done.
Because Zander was only six years old, never sick a day in his life and showed no signs of any issues Rich asked to have a necropsy completed. None of us could understand how Zander just went to sleep on Wednesday night and never woke up.
While waiting for results Rich checked in with our daughter numerous times. Keeping her in the loop of what was going on and showing genuine concern about how we were coping.
On Monday we received news that Zander had died from gastric dilation of his intestines (bloat). This confused us based on the fact that the classic signs of bloat weren't present in his kennel. I called our vet to go over all of this and was given comfort in that, although rare, bloat can be almost instantaneous. At the same time Rich was reaching out to other vets (one who did the necropsy) to ask the same questions. He felt horrible because he'd been telling us that he didn't think it was bloat. He was told the same as I was.. he was also further told that there probably would have been no time to even get Zander to a vet.
This was Zander's first big visit to K9.. he'd gone for a temperament evaluation at Doggy Day Care (passed with flying colors), for a weekend and then this planned eight day stay. He seemed to have a good time and everyone loved him.
I'm making this recommendation because I know firsthand how much the people at K9 care, for the dogs under their watch and...
Read moreWorst boarding experience of all time. No one answers phones when they are closed, no call forwarding at all. Literally no one is there after hours. Strict no refund policy. Both of our dogs stayed here while we went on vacation, and we get a frantic voicemail 2 days into our trip on a sunday that they needed to rush our dog to the vet for laboured breathing, which is something he has suffered from his whole life, and is diligently under the care of a vet to help control, which they were made aware of at intake, but failed to read his chart before charging us an arm and a leg to take him to the vet. I attempted to call them back moments after missing the intial call and ended up leaving several voicemails, only to get a call back hours later and was told that my dog has all of these ailments that we are already aware of. I am angered by this beacuse I ended up spending a day of my vacation to make arrangements to have a family member go pick up my dog and take him the rest of the week, because this place could not continue to care for him. They only want healthy dogs to stay here, because they are unqualified to care for sickly dogs. No one is there after hours and they do not have an answering service or call forwarding. Also a strict no refund policy as well. Its an awful lot of money to spend to get subpar service and care. Will not be...
Read moreI've always had a relative to watch my dogs whenever I was away but this is the first time that I'm traveling and needed to find boarding for them. I was nervous to find a place that wouldn't keep then locked in a small crate all day and dirty, which unfortunately happened to a previous dog of mine when I left then with their vet, and since they get anxious ariund other dogs I was concerned no place would work. I toured this facility and from the moment I walked in, it was warm and inviting. The staff were so friendly and patient in answering all of my questions. They gave me a tour of the different boarding arrangements they have and the private play options available. They place was very clean and didn't have that "kennel odor" you smell at some facilities. Even when I called close to the date I'd be dropping off my pups, the staff member who assisted me on the phone gave me tips on the best way to drop off my dogs for the week to make sure it's stress-free for me and my dogs. Highly recommend trying then out for your day care and...
