Disappointing. I live about a half mile from this store and have shopped here weekly, if not twice weekly for over two years. I have a large home bar, and spend a decent amount on alcohol to keep it well stocked. I spoke with Deep on several occasions while making purchases, and feel that I had built a good customer relationship with the store. On one of my visits, I informed him of a specific bottle I was looking for that was due to be released. I asked that he please keep an eye out for it for me, and had also left my contact info. The bottle in question was going to be a limited release, but I was assured that I would be one of the first to know as soon as the store received it. Iām a collector of certain brands, and was extremely interested in securing one of these bottles. I asked on every visit to the store if there was any word, and was told not to worry, that I was guaranteed a bottle when they received it. Weeks went by, and on one visit in particular I overheard Deep and another employee talking about the bottle in question, and how they offered one to another customer. I interrupted and asked if they had come in. I was told at that time that they had in fact came in, but only 6 bottles and they were all sold immediately. Of course at this point I was upset, as Iām a believer in customer loyalty, and was assured that I would be given the opportunity to purchase one of these bottles. I had literary asked for weeks about this bottle, on every single visit As I made other purchases. Needless to say, I immediately put back my bottles in hand, and left the store without making a purchase. 2 days later exactly, I get a call from a friend telling me they went to the store the day after I was there, and was able to purchase the exact bottle I was promised, even though he had never asked about this bottle prior. Sheisty business practice to say the least. I havenāt been back since, and will not return to give my business to such disloyal customer practices. I now shop at another local store that keeps my best interests in mind as a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOk, I know what you're thinking... "why is this guy reviewing a chain liquor store location?" Well, I am sure they are well-stocked, friendly, and competitively-priced, so cheers to that. But it's their SIGN that grabbed my attention. It's a lighthouse. Not just a lighthouse-styled sign, but an actual lighthouse. Look at the details. Who would go to those lengths for just a sign? Now I could be wrong, but everything about this screams "real lighthouse that was moved here from somewhere else" to me. May it have been taller? Yes. Does it seem like a shore light? Not necessarily. Most likely a river light, but not a range beacon. I don't know, like I said I could be wrong on this, but I don't think I am. I'd lay down a case of beer from Buy Rite saying that I'm correct about this unique "sign post" in Yardville, NJ. UPDATE I found it. This is the mast lantern from the lightship LV-53 "Stonehorse." She operated off the coast of Massechussetts from 1934 to 1951. After being scrapped, her mast lantern found its way here in 1988. I have created a pin and identity of its own as an historic item, instead of just a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOutstanding beer selection, including a huge number of local beers and beers from around the country. Even a decent selection of foreign beers, which is hard to find in this area. Beer prices are generally reasonable. I occasionally see beers on the shelf here that should really be in the fridge, but they do better at this than many competitors. Could be improved if the beer were slightly better organized, or maybe just more clearly labeled, because there's so much it can be hard to find what you're looking for.
My impression is that wine and liquor selections are good but not exceptional, and I think prices are competitive. Staff have always been friendly...
