My wife and I took a day trip to Bordentown NJ and booked a two-night midweek stay online in a single Bedroom Suite with a King bed, a Sofa bed and a kitchenette at the Residence Inn in Hamilton. This was our first visit to this Residence Inn. In the past we usually stayed at Homewood Suites when choosing hotels with comparable accommodation but chose this location for its proximity to the Hamilton Marketplace. |Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed by the front desk section of the hotel. Everything looked clean and new. There was a faux fireplace. A business center with computers and printers, and several individual TVs with private nooks for viewing. There was also an outdoor patio area that is visible from the front desk area with a fire pit and chairs. The hotel has an indoor pool and basketball court on the property. (We did not get to use the outdoor patio, fitness center, basketball court or pool during our visit.) There was a lemon water dispenser next to the front desk. The front desk clerk was friendly and welcoming and was able to answer all questions throughout our visit. The housekeeping staff were also courteous and helpful. We received a friendly âGood Morningâ from the housekeepers on our way to breakfast. As we passed them each morning, they would always check that we had everything we needed for our stay.|We had a very comfortable stay at the Residence Inn. We liked our room. Our king-size bed was comfortable to sleep in both nights. There were TVs in the bedroom and living room for relaxing. There was glassware, plates, and silverware in the kitchenette for 4 people. It was convenient having a full refrigerator to store perishable items during our stay. The only complaint about the room was the shower in the bathroom. Which had many knobs and multiple showerheads, so it was difficult to figure out how to get water started on the upper showerhead and adjust it for hot water. |The room came with a coffee maker which we used each morning to make coffee when we got up, prior to our full breakfast. Residence Inn provides a free buffet breakfast each morning between 6AM and 9AM midweek. Breakfast had a decent selection, but it was basic. Just oatmeal, cereal, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, turkey patties, apples, bananas, bagels, yogurt, English muffins and sliced breads. (The first morning they did serve cheese in the scrambled eggs which was a nice addition.) There was a toaster for the English muffins and bread. However, I was disappointed that they did not offer a make-your-own waffle or pancake station. More options for fruit (like sliced melon, grapes or fruit salad) would have also been a nice addition. I feel that breakfast ends too early at 9 AM. Checkout at the hotel is 11 AM, I would have thought breakfast should have ended at 10 AM or 10:30 AM so guests could...
Read moreWe stayed here for a wedding on August 5th. We were running late so we checked in and ran upstairs too change quickly. As I was doing my makeup in the full length mirror out of the corner of my eye I see something. A pair of dirty, balled up cheetah print underwear. To make matters worse the mirror had all these mouth/lip marks. We had zero time to switch rooms so I went to the front desk to notify them. They were very apologetic and the Manager Joseph asked what time we would be back. I told him we really didn't know but he assured us he would rectify this and he would be there until 11PM. We returned around 1130, he was gone for the night. There were no notes or anything left on our room and we now had to explain the entire situation again. We were quite exhausted from celebrating and the from the extreme heat during the day. We just wanted to switch rooms and go to bed. The woman was rather new at the desk and had to call him to figure out how to switch our room. Now it's well past midnight, we have to go upstairs, pack up everything and move to another room. My husband waited upstairs while I went back down to get the new key. Both women at the front desk assured us that they would comp our room in the morning. The next morning at check out the front desk knew nothing about the ordeal. I now had to repeat the story a 3rd time. The Housekeeping Manager was there and asked to see photos because she didn't believe me. I gladly let her see. She kept repeating to me how she had record the room was cleaned. Okay great. These were not my underwear and I am definitely not kissing mirrors while a pandemic is still very much active. Once again, the woman at the desk had to call the Manager Joseph because she knew nothing about this. She was very nice and apologetic. I said, the women last night said our room would be comped. Apparently Joseph said no, he would only give us half off. He offered nothing else and said something to imply the women last night were new and they shouldn't of said the room would be comped. We left because I wasn't arguing anymore, especially with someone on the phone. My husband has stayed in Marriotts in every state. He works for Food Network and travels the country. We even stayed at the Westin in Maui for our honeymoon. We have never experienced a dirty room or such ill customer service. Ladies, you were excellent. Thank you for trying to help us. Joseph, all you had to do was leave a note and this wouldn't have turned into such a...
Read moreWe stayed at the Residence Inn Hamilton for our wedding on Thanksgiving weekend and I would like to start by pointing out the good (though not much of it). The drivers for the shuttles to and from our venue were AMAZING (even carried my wedding dress in for me) and Libby, one of the managers, was wonderful to work with. She was always kind and responsive. However, the reason I know Libby is so great is because it got to the point that I would only communicate with a manager to get any straight answers or to get anything done. I would like to point out that we had a block here AND at the Courtyard across the street, AND had guests that booked outside of the block...so we brought lots of business to the Marriott.
Besides the Residence being the only vendor that was difficult to deal with during my wedding planning, my room was completely disappointing. I had stayed at this specific hotel before and knew the studio suite was nice, but the 2 bedroom suite I reserved for two nights was awful. The floors were dirty with bobby pins and crumbs, there was a hanger in the bathroom from a previous guest, my toilet paper holder fell off the wall, and my shower curtain had MOLD in it. Not exactly the most ideal for your own wedding...
To top it off, when checking in, the man working at the front was completely useless. I came to the hotel two days prior to drop off invitations for our guests for a brunch, and asked (the same man) for the invitations to be handed to our guests upon check-in. Simple. When I requested this, I honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. WELL, we got there to check-in with friends, he did NOT hand out the invitation that was right next to him, and of course he had to be reminded to hand them out. And to top it off, when my husband used his credit card to pay for the rooms, the man NEGLECTED to tell us that he "accidentally" charged my card on file first, supposedly did a refund right away and then charged my husbands card. Didn't mention ANY of this when my husband was paying. So I found out through my bank the next morning (on my WEDDING DAY) that almost $1,000 was charged to my card without my knowledge. My husband spoke to the hotel the next morning and said they don't see a charge to my card on their end, so the man that checked us in must've done a refund right away.....it should be back into my account in a few days....really?
I called corporate customer service today, explained the whole situation and...
