I bought a 2003 Ski-Doo Legend 1000V (4 Stroke) off Facebook Marketplace. Sled is IMMACULATE with lower miles. Got it for a great deal. I knew it'd need an alternator and didn't realize how obsolete the alternator is for it. You can't find alternators ANYWHERE. They were discontinued by Ski-Doo. I spent 6 hours calling every single place i could think of and then some, to no avail. Finally, after looking some more on Google, this place popped up. I gave them a call and explained my situation. They said they could rebuild it and told me to send it to them, so I did. I wanted to rebuild it myself, but they said they don't send parts to customers to rebuild alternators (was kinda bummed, as they charge almost $400 for an alternator rebuild that takes an hour to do and 50 to 75 bucks in parts tops). I am waiting for them to test the alternator and then call me for payment. I am hoping for $387 and one hours worth of work, I'll get it back without any issues. I remain optimistic after seeing these dazzling 5 star reviews! Will update if anything changes. I am excited to get back my alternator fully rebuilt to new. I've rebuilt 2 alternators before, they're easy to work on, but usually they require soldering, just wish this place would send parts to customers that know what they're doing, I could've save $325-350, but oh well. No where has parts (Bearings, brushes, regulator etc, so let's see what this place can do). So far, so good. Thanks 😊
Update: After them having issues with repairing the alternator, took them a little bit to find a part that was damaged when they disassembled it (a part that's not usually bad), but they were extremely communicative, informative and fair. I got the alternator back and it looks brand new. Haven't installed it because the sled is junk (that's another story)....
Read moreMy shop recommended I get a part from here. I did. It was installed. Within 20-30 miles, I heard a loud pop that sounded like a shotgun shell going off under me and the bike lost all power in a dangerous spot between guardrails in a winding canyon. After I got it out of the dangerous part, caught a ride, picked it up, took it to a master mechanic, the part was ...the wrong dimensions. You could visually see the bolt heads were recessed on the old part. On the one Rick's sold me, they were not recessed at all and stuck out quite a bit more - enough to catch the fly wheel and blow everything to hell. I lost about $2,000. When I called Rick's, the woman was condescending, rude, and treated me like some kind of scammer or that I'd personally wronged her mother, daughter, and cousin simultaneously. I offered for her to call my mechanic friend who literally owned the local dealership and was doing it as a favor to me, send in photos etc, and she couldn't have cared less to hear a word I said like I had the audacity to complain about it... I just gave up and called it quits after she garbage behavior. Said something to the effect since it was off the books, she didn't really care cause it wasn't a licensed business or something similar even though if he had charged it would have them been "official".
The part was so obviously wider anyone I showed could pick out the issue by sight without me explaining. Rick's didn't want to see or care. We were flabbergasted by...
Read moreSo, i was helping out a buddy by getting his old 2010 Arctic Cat back up and running. As i was inspecting the wiring harness, I found that the mice had been busy. Space I looked into buying a new pigtail to repair the damage and found that all I could do was buy a brand new entire wiring harness. As I was searching for replacement ideas I Came Upon a chat Forum named Arctic chat that was filled with people that had had or were having issues with their Arctic cats. As I read, one of the people listed Rick's Motorsports Electrics as a great option to buy replacement parts. I immediately looked up the telephone number and called Rick's. With about a half hour to closing time someone answered the phone I spoke with them I sent them several photographs of the item I needed, and I was immediately given pictures of the exact same part I was looking at for, only about $30. I went online with Rick's I placed the order and within a couple of days I had a perfectly working part that arrived the price was fair the item was perfectly made and my buddy's Arctic Cat lives again! I would highly recommend Rick's they are fast, they are professional, and they really care about getting you back on the road....
