Smh. DMV sucks It’s always a hassle

3 days I got my Ls finally after MONTHS / YEARS Ever since I was tryna get my firearm NEED VA STATE LICENSE I was holding DC LICENSE

I was told by many ppl that WORK THERE I needed to take the drivers course and road test to get my Ls in Virginia …..

Im like no I don’t I KNOW many ppl that surrendered there drivers license from another state to get a drivers license in the current state there in ! PLUS I called customer services and went to DMV website and saw it there ..

But no every time I go in the mf I told some BS about testing and road test

For the sake of my job because my license expired I tried again .. found out my Ls in Va is suspended due to car Plus I need 2 pieces of mail with my name and address …

I’m like ok so I was told to get a SR 22 .. I went to best choice they told me I had to get a real ID in the state of VA because I can’t use my DC license So back to DMV I GO… with my 2 pieces of mail but apparently only 1 was accepted…. so I had to leave go to my job get a pay stubs because for some reason the email they gave me to send a check stub was in PDF form but had a password I could've gave them to check the pay stub …… so back in line for me

BOOM got my REAL ID playing musical chairs the weirdest way ever …payed 26 bucks for it

Go back to best choice insurance Payed 140 … got my paper work .. and back to dmv Showing my 2 pieces of mail verification again….

I get done with check out …i sit down and eventually my number gets called up … I give her my sr 22 paper work she ask for my 2 pieces of mail …. Then she asked all these questions about a car I havnt had for almost 4 years….got that tooken care of Then payed 750 to get reinstated …

The she told me I had to take the drivers and road test … smh

Boom the next day brung my paper id I payed 26 bucks for check in lady ask me to provide proof of address ….. WTF my new id that I got from this very place yesterday is not enough ? She like no … Back to the crib I go ….back in line I go …

Boom I take the test , passed I got back up to the lady that seated me she ask for my paper work .. then out of curiosity I ask yo do I really have to take the road test .. I mean I drive everyday I work for cox … She like u already have a license im like yes … She like smh …why u ain’t tell me u had this I set u up for a 2 months learning permit I’m like hellllllllll nahhh I stay alone I pay rent I can’t …. Nobody is gonna take over them bills …

She like u gotta tell ppl u want to get surrender your license smh .

So it was a whole nother hassle

But I need up getting everything canceled to get my current license “ surrendered “ so the voided out my real id and I payed 36 bucks After another 3 hours of waiting

My 83 year old mother went to the DMV in September to renew her license, she was turned away because she didn't have an appointment ( the paperwork sent to her did not tell her to make an appointment ) and was given a number to call to obtain the appointment; called number for several days and no one answered. My mother finally called me to see what I could do so I went online and got her the earliest appointment which was Dec 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.. License has now been expired for months and I have been driving her as necessary. The first thing they say is your License is expired and you can't drive then she takes the vision test after being asked if she wears glasses or contacts; she answers no and proceeds with the exam and upon completing the exam she is once again asked if she is wearing contacts again no. Next question is do you have a green card answer is no so now she needs to prove identity/citizenship and was given an appointment for next day. Mother brought in citizenship (original) certificate. DMV employee stated that it was not an original and was a copy that she placed her picture on and it needed a government seal to be original, the deal is visible at bottom of certificate and goes right through the bottom of her photo, you can feel the seal as it is raised but she was told to contact the Office of Vital Statistics to get a valid certificate ( that is another story). Here we January 6, 2021 going to try again with same original certificate and other papers for proof of residency and SSN. Hope it...

I went to the DMV the day before yesterday to get my Real ID. I waited in line, filled out the form, and got to window #18. While taking the vision test, I noticed the machine had black spots and wasn’t working properly. I asked to use a different one, but the staff rudely told me to go see a vision doctor instead.

They said all my information was saved and I just needed to return with a signed form from the doctor confirming my vision was fine. I did exactly that the next day and came back to the same DMV. However, they wouldn't accept any of my IDs anymore and made me restart the entire process. Somehow, they lost all my information from just one day earlier.

Then they refused to issue the Real ID because they claimed they couldn’t see my middle name on my U.S. passport, even though I provided multiple valid forms of ID—including my passport, Social Security card, old ID, and official letters. They still didn’t accept anything.

I felt I was treated unfairly and differently than others, possibly due to my race. Staff were unhelpful and dismissive. When I spoke to a supervisor at window #4, they only offered to reissue my old ID—not upgrade it to a Real ID—which made no sense since both are issued by the DMV.

I would not recommend this DMV. People should be treated equally regardless of race...
