You could tell the restaurant had been busy, but it was still clean. That was a good sign that they are paying attention to the diner as the sold food and were properly staffed.
I wanted a po boy combo, but i didn't want the bread, the cashier suggested the same in a taco and saved me about .75 cents on top of giving me what I wanted! The food was cooked fresh to order and didn't take long.
I would suggest having a couple of shakers for some powdered sugar and cinnamon for those yummy sweet potato fries, as well as upping the sugar on the sweet tea (hence the name "sweet tea") because, when you add ice to it, it taste unsweetened. If it is not Sweet Tea then label it sweetened tea and supply some sugar packets so that we adjust it to our liking...everyone doesn't drink soda. Good ol' lemonade doesn't sound bad either being available to wash down that delicious fish...it's. I mean, lemon and seafood go together, don't they? The cakes for sale made outside the restaurant were really fresh and flavorful, I was not disappointed at all. When you top it all off with good customer service, you have an instant "gold medal! ;-) Why no 5 star? All the TV'S are on the same wall and it made for awkward for checking the Olympics and eating the way the tables were set up. Just some customer input for consideration. Thank you for...
Read moreThe food is good and the establishment is well maintained, staff were friendly and courteous, so why am I giving them one star?? Hygiene issue. My wife and I went in for lunch she ordered a shrimp basket and I had the whiting. They got my wife's order wrong and promptly corrected without issue. Here is what we witnessed, the staff member/manager went from preparing / breading fish (with gloved hands) to taking a customer's order and handling cash (with the same gloved hands) then when she was done, removed fish and replaced it with shrimp for my wifes order (with the exact same gloved hands) Me and my wife took major issue with this and politely asked that the staff member change their gloves and prepare a fresh (uncontaminated) order of shrimp. The staff member/manager exclaimed they dont change their gloves like that, we are not ones to argue a stores policy, if the MANAGER doesn't see an issue with not changing gloves between handling food and money that is simply not a place that I will EVER eat at again. The staff were never rude and promptly returned our funds but not willing to simply change their gloves on request. I can understand not changing gloves if thats all you are doing is handling / preparing food. P.S. management / owner save the canned apology and educate your staff on basic hygiene before...
Read moreI used to come to this location FAITHFULLY, WEEKLY.
Due to my job, I'm always away from home.
The last two times however, I've been COMPLETELY disgusted and disappointed with the quality of the food and the attitude of "management."
Before I left, B who used to manage at this location. She would make sure to leave every customer satisfied and without any complaints. Now the attitudes are very condescending and the food is absolutely 0/10.
The last two times I visited the breading of the catfish, shrimp, and okra( okra wasnt cooked evenly) came off. The Nana Puddin is not the same at all. Actually just purchased it recently and the next day it was watery. Nothing but pudding, barely any bananas, and if youre lucky more than 1 cookie. *This is coming from someone who order a whole pan for their birthday last year.
Not only is the food quality terrible, but the attitude of management/staff is absolutely UGLY. When expressed my dissatisfaction for the food, "management" acted as if there was nothing they could or would do.
This specific location isn't what it used to be. If you want good quality and staff that cares about their customer, please just drive the extra minutes/miles to the Hampton or Denbigh location.
Please do not waste your time or money at this...
