BUYER BEWARE
My husband and I visited this store today, June 20, 2025, as a final stop on our vacation in Mohican State Park.
We want to warn others: if you shop here, take a photo of any price stickers before you check out and show the item(s) PLUS the photo to the cashier before paying.
The experience: I found a small plastic elephant watering can clearly marked with a $1.67 sticker placed slightly over the bar code sticker. At the register, the cashier sneakily peeled the sticker off and scanned the bar code sticker which rang up for $7.99. When I asked about the price difference, she acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about. She turned around and a petite older woman (the owner?) walked over and backed her up stating that the sticker must’ve "gotten stuck on it from another item." That explanation didn’t sit right with us - at all.
In the moment, I went ahead and paid, but regretted it afterwards. We just wanted to leave without going back and forth with them, possibly escalating the situation without a resolution. I had already called them out, giving them an opportunity to be honest. Lastly, I paid cash and didn't get a receipt. I failed to check the bag while there and didn't catch it until after we had left.
Most store employees would say something like, “Oops, this sticker isn’t correct—it’s actually $7.99. Do you still want it?” That would’ve been honest and respectful. I left feeling scammed and upset.
Bottom line: take photos of tags, ask for receipts, and be cautious. We won’t be returning. If they respond to this review making excuses for why this was handled this way, let my experience speak for itself.
To the workers, management and owners: Is deliberately over-charging worth losing business and it being...
