Nice shop and great selection of games, however, with my experience recently trading in merchandise worth a couple thousand dollars retail, I would definitely recommend that you do your trade-ins on a much smaller scale if you want to be dealt with fairly. Several items on both trips I made were omitted and not even mentioned (i.e. multiple games and an Xbox controller valued at *$0.00 and not returned) also I traded in a backwards compatible ps3 that sells online in used condition not even working for 100$+ (mine worked fine just needed to be air dusted so the fans would quiet) and they only deemed to give me 25$ on the ticket and didn't even give me a reason until I brought it up at the store after I had driven back once they noticed that they had "forgotten" to add a few switch games I had brought in to the last invoice. I informed them when I started trading with them that I used to work and fix consoles for a games store, so I knew trade in values. Most of the high dollar items I was given a trade in value of about 30% of what they could sell it at market. And some items were even less than that. I understand that businesses need to make money, but that was a bit steep in this old gamers eyes. I have no problem helping young entrepreneurs to make some money, but I don't appreciate being bamboozled either. I would definitely recommend that if you are trading anything with them that you itemize everything you have before you leave anything with them to "look over", and make sure you have done your market research on your high dollar items before you bring anything to the table with them.
**Edit Thanks for your response to my review, but your employee did not ever offer to return the aforementioned ps3. He, in fact, said that he would be "happy to hook it up and show me that it didn't work." I declined because I am on oxygen and had already been on the road for an hour as I had driven back almost from home because your employee had called and said that there was games to the tune of 64$ that had been accidentally omitted from the invoice when you had 4 days to look over everything.. I checked the ps3 and made sure that it worked before I brought it to you. He even said that it did work the fans were just loud, and that is why you guys didn't give me the full price and that you couldn't very well sell something to somebody that "needed fans to go with the unit..." That ps3 is notorious for needing the fans because of how it was initially made, thus why they made the fans aftermarket to go with the unit in the first place... The unit worked fine, I just didn't want to stand in the store and argue with the guy since I was low on oxygen and needed to get home.. Seems to me I remember the last trip I made you guys were having trouble getting your shop equipment to work when I traded in a beautiful copy of nes Final Fantasy CIB and he kept trying to put it in a retron 5 that wouldn't read the cart (that worked) and then yall gave me less than 30% of what you could sell it for as well... Also, last invoice you guys missed a whole working Sega Game Gear that was in a pocket of the carrying case of a set of two total working units.. If I hadn't remembered and mentioned it during the last trade, that would have been omitted as well. This was all part of my collection that I had been saving since I was a kid. 35 years worth of stuff... The whole scenario left a bad taste in my mouth, and I appreciate that you're trying to make money, and the reason why I brought the stuff to you at all was I desperately needed money as well... Our business relationship has ended at this point, and in light of everything, I don't think I will be doing business with you going forward. Take care, and...
Read moreIll start by stating I fully support independent gaming stores 100% more than any corporate place. I hate Gamestop trying to sell me a service package on a $10 switch game. I've been holding off writing about the experiences since I figured they were one offs...but today it happened again.
I went to purchase some Pokémon cards for my son from their bins, and there was a customer trading in boxes of stuff, like Pokémon cards and everything. That bogged down the entire store and nobody could purchase anything. They didn't open another register to allow other customers to purchase things. I ended up waiting about 6 minutes and then put the Pokémon cards back and left.
No issues with customers bringing in big orders to trade in, but you need to have a dedicated lane or something for large trade orders that wont bog the store down. There were at least 3 employees in the store.
Its a really cool store with lots of items from many different gaming generations, but needs a way to allow the inflow of small purchases from the massive trade ins.
Edit-owners response was great. I'll update my review next time I...
Read moreHonestly my bad experience here was over a year ago but after speaking with a friend they revealed they recently went here and had a horrible experience themselves so now I’m gonna speak. This place is terrible, they know almost nothing about games made past 1995, they sell broken equipment/ consoles, and they make me feel lied to. They sold my friend 2 used controllers that were over 55 bucks a piece, they sell new ones for 65 and these damn controllers didn’t even work, riddled with horrrible stick drift buttons unresponsive. This upset me greatly. Monster Games was always a pleasant experience Man I miss Monster Games, this place is a joke. Don’t recommend and I refuse to spend my money here and you should too. Bring back Monster Games or atleast people that aren’t...
