Shindigs — Local services in Hartford

The store itself is gorgeous and has so many wonderful items I would love to purchase…especially for an upcoming remodel project we have planned. The service, however, was horrible. There were two ladies working today when my 7 year old and I stopped in for the very first time. We never got a greeting, eye contact or any offer to help us find anything. We were the ONLY customers in the store at the time. The older lady at the front counter didn’t even bother to look up when we walked past her. Needless to say, we won’t be back again. A lovely place full of beautiful things but boy the customer service is awful. I had no idea they closed not long after I walked in. As I was looking around the store clerk, possibly owner, said “actually were you going to purchase something???” I was so shocked at that I said oh I didn’t know you were closing and grabbed the things I was interested in. On second thought I shouldn’t have purchased anything from such a rude establishment. The proper way to handle this situation is to advise people as they come in that they are closing soon. Me and my friends just went into the store we were upstairs by the jellycats. One of the workers came up to us and told us the hurry up and make a selection. Essentially kicking us out. She said the reason why is because we were kids and need an adult. Which is age discrimination and not legal. She was very rude about it even through we did nothing wrong.
