Hartford Main Street Cafe — Restaurant in Hartford

Went on a midday monday. Many restaurants in Hartford are closed on mondays and thought we would give them a try. First impression was nothing fancy but clean place, very friendly staff. Menu was good and prices were fair. Waiter greeted us warmly and asked if we wanted something to drink while we looked through the menu. Drinks came fast and no pushing us to order. He came back when he saw I was ready and took our orders and explained what came with order and options. Food came with only a short wait, (this isn't a fast food joint) and served hot. My wife and I loved our meals and the coffee cup stayed full. Since the meal was very good and filling I thought I still had room for desert. Cherry pie. Visited Sunday for breakfast, they weren’t very busy and I believe I know why, prices are the 1st reason. They now charge extra for everything. Usually ordered 2 eggs toast and a breakfast meat for under $8, now I got 2 eggs which usually comes with toast and hash browns, even a side of bacon or ham. Now when you order you get charged 75 cents more for toast, 75 cents more for hash browns and 2.50 more for a breakfast meat. Next you pay another 3% if you use a credit card. I wanted to use a debit card and they won’t even take that. So my usual breakfast which was under $8 is $12.50+ which is quite and increase. Yes prices have gone up but over 33%. No way we are coming back here as there are many other places near by that have not done this...

This little cafe has been up and down. Breakfast is usually pretty good you just have to remind them please don't burn the omelette. Today when we ate at 11:00 a.m. they're special of the day was chicken quesadilla. It was very sad. You could tell the chicken was from a can and the salsa was from a jar nothing fresh. I didn't even eat it all I left it on the plate to be thrown away. My wife's breakfast was way better than my meal. The other problem is their bathroom. In the men's room there are holes in the wall the paint is coming off the wall and was just smelling not the greatest. We've always had good service and clean tables but currently food quality seems to be on the downswing as if they're trying...
