Visited this place during a road trip. I had to stop in town and try a dish made with some world famous hatch Chile peppers. This place didn't disappoint. It has a comfortingly authentic atmosphere. I enjoyed looking at the art decorating their walls, which by the way is all for sale. The restaurant is also connected to a gift shop which we explored while waiting for our meal.
We sat down and were served some chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and had an intensely delicious kick. While looking over the various options on the menu I couldn't quite decide on what to get. Thankfully, my server suggested getting a combo plate. I tried the red sauce enchilada, Chile relleƱo, and a home made tamale. My favorite was the Chile relleƱo. It was sweet savory cheesy goodness. The red hatch sauce on the enchilada was sweet with medium heat. My girlfriend's favorite item was the beans. She commended the place on them. She loved their simple, yet satisfying approach to their flavor.
Anyways, if you're strolling through town and need some Hatch Chile chow I recommend checking this place out. It's one of the few places open after 3pm and...
Read moreThe aroma of this place had my mouth watering. So disappointed. After waiting 15 minutes to be acknowledged, then seated, had to wait another 12 minutes to have our order taken. I already wanted to leave, but my husband talked me into staying. Ok so our order is taken, we all decided on water because with traveling, we'd had enough soda. Another 18 minutes and we had to ask for our water. I understand, people get overwhelmed, 45 minutes for a glass of water. I was still hopeful, needed my green chile fix. The green chile cheeseburger when it did come out was dry.... And had no green chiles on it. 𤦠the young lady brought out a little cup of chopped chiles which I poured on my burger. The only good thing I have to say is their chips and salsa were awesome. Which we got just after the water. I hope it was just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got caught in a summer thunderstorm while passing through New Mexico. I decided to stop in Hatch to let the storm pass and have some world-famous chiles. This restaurant was a good choice.
I arrived about 20 mins before closing, but staff welcomed me in. The main dining area was already cleaned and packed away but there were still some booths open near the entryway where a few families were eating.
I had the chiles relleƱos and a coke for about $8. It came with two delicious chiles, beans, rice, salad, chips, and salsa. Good service, good food, and great value.
I will definitely stop here again next time I am passing...
