Valverde Store - Chile & Pottery — Local services in Hatch

We travel down from Colorado and every time we pass Hatch we stop at this location to purchase their medium roasted green chilis. To be honest, I am not one for heat, but am more of a flavor guy and these chilis were delicious. The first time we went there was this spring and the two folks that helped us out were very kind and even split a bag in half for us to bring home. Last week we passed by again and I purchased two whole bags so we could make some homemade enchilada sauce. Their pottery is also very fun to view. It is like a little museum. I was on a mission to find the best salsa in New Mexico. Homemade and not a lot of artificial ingredients. I stopped by this market and saw a lot of beautiful potteries. I then went inside their cute store and the wonderful lady told me the mild to hottest salsa that were homemade. I asked what she preferred and she recommended me the Salsa Pasado. This salsa is absolutely delicious. I introduced it to my friends and they loved it as well. They couldn’t stop from almost finishing the entire jar. I was definitely a satisfied customer that day. We were visiting southcentral & southwestern NM from Montana. Loved Hatch and specifically loved Valverde Store. They were so friendly and inviting. Showed us some of the roasting process, explained the different varieties and growing seasons, invited us for some chili samples. Unfortunately I was afraid to try and take anything back on the plane but now that I know they have an on-line store I will be visiting.
