Valley Cafe — Restaurant in Hatch

Staff was slow, not as friendly as they should be with customers. It took about 30 minutes to get our food and there were 2 other tables without food also, they came in when we did.The place was very warm inside despite the weird fans they had going. The door was constantly open so flies kept coming in and big window in back dining room caused it to be alot warmer inside and also glare from sun through window. Only reason I give 1 star is because the food was good, otherwise if could give zero stars I would. Our waitress never came back to check on us and nor give us more iced tea or ice water. They gave us plastic straws that were defective, had only one side open, then used scissors to cut open that end, extremely unsanitary. We were given one napkin for the whole meal and I had to ask another waitress for more water, she came back with glass of water that was lukewarm, no ice?! We will never go back to this place nor...

OMG what a bad experience! I do not recommend this place, stay away! I thing the Health Department should close them down. The food was super good, everyone of us were happy (8 of us) until.... I went to the rest room. 1st thing that through me back was the smell. I noticed a wall poster that is common in old Mexico, DO NOT FLUSH USED TOILET PAPER - PLACE USED TOILET PAPER IN TRASH CAN. The trash can was full of toilet paper with feces. Then my grandson had to go to restroom, while sitting on toilet the back of his head leaned backward on the toilet lid, it fell into the water tank and broke the bottom of the water tank, water everywhere. Yesterday we took a brief road trip to Hatch, NM. We stumbled up the Valley Cafe and were tickled to find our favorite kind of place. A small, unsuspecting cafe with fabulous food. My husband ordered the hamburger and I must say it was one of the best I have ever tasted. It was how we remember hamburgers before there were burger-chains. I ordered the green-chili con queso and it was quite good. We also ordered the green-chile burrito, which was a filling of the queso.
