Went to Conner's while vacationing in Avon. This is literally the most friendly supermarket my wife and I have ever been to in our 38 years of marriage. The staff were super friendly and helpful. A very family oriented feeling. When we needed an item one gentleman could tell and asked if we were looking for something. We told him and he led us to it. Later saw us and asked if we had found what we needed. Later were looking for a single mason jar. Lady took us to where those were at. All they had were dozen jar cases. Did not get. Later the same lady saw us and asked if we had found the mason jar. Explained we needed only a single one. She said she thought she had one in the back. Went and got it. When I asked how much she said, "That's ok, I had it around so it is yours for no cost." Finally the prices. We were expecting typical tourist rip off prices which is what we find in most tourist areas. That was not the case. Everything was very reasonable. I would give 10 stars out of five if I could. Wish that store was close to us in Michigan as I would shop there...
Read morePorta Johns for restrooms? The staff are very friendly and it is a great environment, but there a problem. They don't have rest rooms with SOAP for washing hands. People are all too willing to not wash their hands after using the restroom (aka holding their junk) so I'm not too happy that the few people that actually do wash their hands, but are unable to, are going to be picking up food items, looking at it and going "hmmmm... Let me just handle this and see if I want it... Hmmm...naw, I'm actually going to just put this back"... It's quite disgusting really. Why don't people think about these things? I don't know about you but I don't want other people's fecal matter, piss, genital sweat, and god knows what else on the things that I am doing to buy! And not having soap only ENCOURAGES...
Read moreConner's Supermarket is a wonderful family owned (non-chain) grocery store on Hatteras Island that has everything. Their motto is 'from PBR to caviar' and it's true. The prices are reasonable when you consider that it is is so far away from the mainland. The service is very friendly too. If you are traveling to the Outer Banks you don't have to worry about forgetting anything as Conners has you covered.
Edit. October 2022. I was looking for a particular type of BBQ sauce (they have a huge selection) and 2 staff members were actually wo that section and they were video chatting with their BBQ expert and after a brief discussion they recommended this one. I can't wait to try it out. Highly...
