First of all, where the heck is this place? Your disorientation is wholly understandable since the location of the rental is variously listed as Kamuela, Mauna Lani, Puako, I think I even saw a Waimea or Kohala. It is indeed on the Kona side of the Big Island. To confirm: this property is in the Mauna Lani resort, about 1/2 hour north of the airport (KOA), about a mile or maybe a little less away from the Fairmont Orchid. There is a Foodland grocery store very nearby.

This house is in one of two developments, the KaMilo and the Kulalani, that share a large common pool area and fitness center. We've stayed in the Kulalani development twice in the past, which seems to have more of the adjoining townhomes; this house is in the KaMilo side, which appears to have the larger single family homes. You have keycard access to the Mauna Lani beach club and the Napua restaurant.

This property is one of the best equipped we've ever stayed in. For example, it's the first rental we've had with an adequate number of tongs, which may seem like a weird metric but one of the things we often feel like we're missing when we vacation. There's all kind of beach equipment, even 3 bicycles to ride. The rental company is very responsive.

The home did that great thing for vacations where the property itself kinda fades away from notice and what you remember is the ridiculous game of charades you played with the family where no one could guess that grandma's was trying to...

We just returned from our second visit at Hale Lokahi – truly an idyllic Big Island retreat. Aloha therapy at its finest.

The layout of the home with the two large master suites, each with their own patios, combined with the central living area opening out to the infinity pool made for the perfect experience. The expansive well-stocked kitchen had everything we needed. You’ll find all the the beach gear you’ll need in the garage.

But … it’s all about the location. The centered layout of the home on a slight bluff overlooking the fairway allowed a breathtaking expansive view. Nothing finer. We never missed a sunset!

We have been visiting Mauna Kea properties for many years – both at the resort and several rentals along the fairways. The Hale Lokahi is by far our favorite. The Club access at both the MK and Hapuna resorts makes it a total package. Hands down the best beaches on the Big Island.

Mahalo to Burt and the professional property management team. Your support and communication was spot-on. All questions were promptly answered and the welcome gift upon arrival was a thoughtful gesture. We look forward to many...

Hokulei Cottage is Perfection!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful luxury home. The layout is is great, the location is quiet and very private yet close to all the great amenities Kamilo has to offer. This home is beautifully decorated and furnished.

Clearly the owners and property managers spare no expense in maintaining and outfitting this beautiful property. Everything is there that you could possible want or need and then some. It is truly the most organized and thoughtfully supplied property we have stayed in - and we have been coming to the Big Island for many many years.

Not only is the home itself extremely well stocked ( the kitchen has everything you could want) all the beach supplies, bikes and paddle board supplied in the garage are all top notch. Having access to the beach club so close by is a real plus.

Burt and Krish were a pleasure to work with and communication was seamless.

Thank you Burt and Krish for hosting us - This home is lovely and we will...

We were a group of 4 women traveling from Florida. Our Hawaii girls’ trip included 3 islands, with the Big Island our second stop. From the moment we entered Halii Kai #13D we didn’t want to leave. It was just GORGEOUS and perfect in every way! The views and sounds of the ocean were outstanding. We saw whales at a distance, tropical birds singing every morning, and a lava trail that some of us walked along the coastline. We didn’t have too much time to enjoy the amenities, but did enjoy a few hours at the fabulous pool. Making things even more perfect were Burt and Krish from the rental management company (Better Homes and Gardens), who promptly answered questions, offered recommendations, and even left a fabulous welcome gift for us. Waikoloa is north of Kona, less crowded and a bit out of the mainstream, but had plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We felt it a perfect home base for exploring and enjoying the beauty of the Big Island. Life is Good !!!

We had a lovely time at 119 Ka Milo. The house was spacious / clean / well appointed with a ton of fun equipment to make sure you stay busy the whole time! Beds were comfortable, the grounds beautiful AND they thought about little kids with a moveable kids gate for the stairs, plus a high chair! The golf cart was a massive hit with the grandchildren, they would have been happy if we just lived in it!! Access to Manua Lani beach club was critical for the beach experience - gentle cove with lots of snorkel opportunities plus we saw three turtles! The only suggestion I would have is that it might be time to upgrade the sauce pans. It was obvious that prior tenants did not take care of them so they were no longer non-stick versions… which means that new ones might go the same route but maybe it is time for a trade out! Otherwise thank you for a wonderful stay - we will be back!
