Had a glorious lunch at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort ‘Ulu Ocean Grill yesterday. Everything was on point, just as you would expect when visiting a Four Seasons establishment - great food, delicious drinks, amazing service… but this time the service takes the cake, hands down.
I’d like to give a special shout out to Tehani and whoever it was who assisted her by going above and beyond to find a way to source a whole pineapple for me.
Let me explain. I was tasked with taking a very specific picture for a post that included me “drinking a Mai Tai, or the like, by the pool or the ocean while reading a specific book”. So when my friends and I sat down at Tehani’s table, we asked her what the prettiest drink was that we could get (that still tasted amazing). We then proceeded to explain why. She said it would definitely be the Mai Tai, but then offered to core out the inside of a pineapple for us so that we could make the picture even more beautiful. I was so appreciative.
She then came back about 5 mins later to say they didn’t have any more whole pineapples, but not to worry, because they would find a way to source one. Long story short, about 10 mins later, I saw a gentleman hustling up the stairs with two pineapples in tow. And shortly after that, I had my beautiful (and tasty!) drink in hand, and was able to snap the perfect picture.
So thank you, Tehani, for going out of your way to assist us in our silly little request. It may have seemed like no big deal, but you totally made my day. Well done! And management, you’ve got a gem in Tehani. ...
Read moreIncredible golf experience worth every Penny as a mainland visitor. Immaculate greens, I have played in many courses in Utah (Albeit it’s a dessert) and I haven’t seen a course as nice as this one. There was only 1 hole with a tiny bit of dead grass, and the people I was playing with said this is the worst it’s ever looked. If this is a tough time for them I can’t even imagine what it normally looks like because every hole was pristine. Driving range clubhouse we’re on point as well along with the snacks. Wish the cart guy had warm food but it’s not a big deal.
And let’s finish with the most distinguishable feature, the views. They are really something you need to experience if you are a golfer and visiting big island. The location and design of this course is absolutely unique and I couldn’t see how anyone wouldn’t thoroughly enjoy it.
Bonus: saw my first sea turtle in the wild driving to hole 17. Stop and look along the ocean and you may see some. Give them space don’t go full...

You might get lost on your way through the windy paths, but everyone is so friendly that there's always someone willing to show you the way. If you think Californians are friendly, this Hawaiian resort will make going back home to California look like the iron curtain of chronic public grumpiness. I wish the aloha spirit was everywhere. I have to visit Hawaii often just to feel...
