Kona surf company provided me with my first surfing experience and I was extremely happy with it! Austin was the instructor for my boyfriend and I and he was very informative, patient, and lots of fun. When I got tired from paddling or it was a long way to paddle he would get Infront of me and tow me out himself which was very appreciated and helpful and allowed me to catch more waves than if I would of had to paddle myself. He was also very encouraging if I didn't catch the wave quite right and gave me helpful and precise tips on how to readjust what I was doing wrong. I was nervous at first but I found I really enjoy surfing and had the confidence to take on the waves with the help of the instruction. I highly recommend Kona surf company to anyone who wants to take surfing lessons. Only word of advice is to lather your legs with SPF 50 as mine fried from being under the beating sun for 2 hours, the instructors made sure to advise us to do so but I foolishly thought that my SPF 15 on my legs...

Dom made our surf trip a complete success. He had a variety of boards, expert suggestions on the surf and a friendly approach to his business. His lessons were great as all the students I saw him instruct were up and surfing in no time (myself included) His business location is right across the street from the surf spot making it extremely convenient for picking up our boards and getting to the surf. He was so cool to work with and he also gave us great suggestions for local dining (not the commercialized places everyone goes to) I am sure there are other good surf companies in the area, but when we return to Kona we will be going to see...

Kona had a crazy storm roll through and we had to reschedule the session- I appreciated the open communication and professionalism of this business. Nalu took me out from Kohalu’u beach where he told me this was the spot he learned to surf as a child. The current was strong and Nalu helped me out whenever I got tired and was also patient for when I needed an extra minute of rest.
