We really had high hopes for this place, however, it fell short in many ways.
We had placed a large breakfast order, in attempt to be efficient with our time, as well as trying to practice consideration for the business's time. Our order was 6 entrees, 4 coffees, and 2 side orders, so we knew it would take a significant amount of time to make and didn't want to hold the line up and slow the business down. That was our first mistake.
They told us 20 minutes for the order and we showed up well after, about 40 minutes after placing the order. When we showed up, our assumption was that we could just quickly pickup and pay (as that is the purpose of ordering ahead). Not only were we not acknowledged or helped until we caught someone's attention, they made us wait at the end of the line of people who had not placed orders yet. Meanwhile, half of our food was sitting on the counter for at least the 40 minutes we had waited in the establishment, plus however long it had already been sitting there, and the other half was not completed. When we got to the front of the line, we still had to repeat our entire order and wait an additional 20 minutes for them to complete the rest of the order. We also had to ask for basic things: bags for our large order and a carrier for all of our drinks.
When we got back to our condo, we realized they had forgotten 2 entire entrees. We had to drive back, wait in line again, and wait for the order to be made.
There are many reviews that stated there is always a line and now it's readily apparent why- this place is inefficiently run and the customer service is subpar, at best.
Don't bother calling ahead for your order, you will not save any time and your food will be cold. Hopefully, this business will figure out a more efficient way to get the line moving. They really shouldn't offer the option to call ahead if it does not save the business, and more importantly, the customers, time or frustration.
There are plenty of good breakfast places to spend your time and money in Kona, and I cannot say with confidence, that is is one of those places.
One star for the taste and quality of the food, even though more than half of our...
Read moreDAY 5 of Vacation - As you already know, my mission in Hawaii is to try as much local Kona coffee shops as I can. This is the fourth coffee shop I’ve visited. I needed a quick pick-me-up before a long day filled with activities.
Parking: This is also located in the Keauhou Shopping Center. Plenty of free parking, so finding a spot is easy.
Ambiance/Environment: It’s very warm, local, and casual. They have a medium sized space. I love the open bar because you can see them making the coffee. There’s also limited indoor seating with no outdoor seating.
Service: I did not get her name, but the female barista was quick and efficient. She took my order and made my drink. Throughput was under 2 min.
What I ordered: They have a large menu filled with food options and basic flavored and non-flavored coffee. I just ordered an Iced Caramel Macchiato. The flavor is different from other macchiatos I’ve had. This was still strong and not...
Read moreI really like this spot for breakfast when on the big island. It’s not in the chaos of Kona-Kailua, parking is free and plentiful, and the food and service are excellent.
There are several tables inside and outside- the ones outside only seat two people. Current all art was cool and I understand it changes from time to time. There was a queue of 3 or 4 groups when we arrived and only a smattering of open tables inside. We used the 5 minute wait to decide from the wall menu- and then took a table outside to wait for the food to be cooked. I’d guess it took ten minutes or so even though it was quite busy.
I had the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the Sunday crepe (oddly enough- the Sunday crepe is available all week 🤨) - and both were excellent. I also had an iced latte- very good flavor...
