Wow. Can you say disappointing 😡 makes me so angry....this food was mediocre at best.....Horrible.It really deserves NO stars. First of all they told us the food would be ready in 20 minutes. It wasn't--- it took over 40. They told my husband to wait outside and they would bring it to him. They didn't ----he had to go in and figure out what was going on. This is what we got for $42: 16 oz of chicken panang. Mediocre flavor----no wait. That's being too generous. I don't know how it's possible but this Panang had NO flavor. FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I'VE EATEN IN A THAI RESTAURANT WHERE THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO HEAT IN THE FOOD AND IT WAS INCREDIBLY BLAND. STRINGY, tough chicken .....and to make it palatable and we had to add our own fish sauce (+ too many carrots). 6 dried-out scrawny "Royal Thai" chicken wings, four vegetables spring rolls: Both tasted like they had been in a freezer for months. AND ...no rice.😳 Attached photo says it all. I don't mind paying for quality. And Hawaii is expensive overall. But $42 for THIS?!? Ridiculous. Not sure if they forgot it or what--- but come on--- when's the last time you've been to a Thai restaurant takeout and they forget the rice? This was like eating hospital or cafeteria food. Oh, and the piece de resistance? There was a piece of PLASTIC in the curry. It looked like one of the end of those plastic tags they put on clothing.... Makes me wonder what else is in mix...🙄 Unbelievable. We WON'T be back. (If you're in Kona you need to go to Original Thai. https://www.ogthai.co/---- BEST Thai in town. The ONLY reason we didn't go this time is because we're staying closer to Keauhou, so we thought we would give these guys a try. What a horrible decision.)

This is surprisingly good Thai food which is not something I'd expect at all. I was lazy so didn't want to go to another fancy restaurant so I ordered to go. The food took longer than expected but that's because they are very busy. The waitress also made some mistakes initially on my order but luckily she was able to run out to catch me in the car to fix the order. What makes a Thai restaurant good is how well they adjust the spiciness of the food without messing with the flavor of curry or basil sauce and I have to say they do a pretty good job with the exception of Tom Yum Soup which unfortunately doesn't have right balance of spiciness and sourness. Other than that the basil squid is delicious and so is the Thai curry prawn. Overall I have to say it's very good Thai food. Unfortunately I couldn't take good photos due to takeout containers.

Before tonight I WAS a loyal customer because I love the food here and I have twice literally crossed the ocean to enjoy my former favorite Thai food restaurant only to be disappointed because they've been closed every single time in the past two years that I've made trips specifically 1)across the ocean and 2) across the island from Hilo side to have some pad Thai, but they close on random days of the week and this last time, which was the final straw, posted a paper notice on their window but failed to update their hours on Google, so once again I wasted a plane ticket and a tank of gas for nothing. Having good food doesn't mean anything if you can't handle basic things like keeping regular business hours. Shame on you. Don't waste your time at Royal Thai, go to McDonald's.

I will be very honest!! We came hungry driving from Hilo with an intention to eat some good dinner. When we arrived at the front desk the lady asked us to take any table available and later after 5 minutes seating us, one of the hostess asked us to get up and wait outside!! That was very rude to start off, and additionally the hostess had the audacity to say if you don’t want to wait we can go and they will reserve the seat for another person.

However to give a benefit of doubt we waited outside. Note at that point the owner who was inside did not care to even say sorry there are others who are in waitlist. After about 20 minutes the owner calls us and a few others (one of them who had been waiting for a longer time - note she was single and not with a party.

After calling us in, the hostess made us to pull the table to accommodate another family. As a courtesy we did assist without any hindrance. Again, we had to request for water to be served. No one bothered to ask if we wanted water or something.

Now the game begins. We ordered Red Curry - veggie and pad Thai. It was about 7:40 pm on Dec 28th 2024. We patiently waited till 9:00 pm, assuming that there were orders to be filled. To our surprise neither did we get the food nor did the others who came inside along with us at the same time got their food either.

At that time we asked when will be getting our food and to our shock the hostess who took our order says, sir we can’t tell you when you will get. If you have ordered, then please wait as we cannot give any ETA and she said we are 3rd in the line and she was so rude that she even said if we are not willing to wait she can cancel the order.

This is the worst experience me and my family had.

I definitely will not recommend any one (not even my enemies) to go to this rude place!! You will be left with no food and a great disappointment and plate full of rudeness!!

If you wish to eat Thai food in Kona Hawaii, go to Thai Rin Restaurant & Bar. They are very courteous and...

The only disappointment I have is how late into the trip we discovered this place. We stopped by for a quick lunch after snorkelling. This is an awesome place 😭😍

My husband and I love Thai food and we make sure to order a fried rice every time we visit Thai restaurants. We tried so many places all the way from NY to WA and this restaurant competes with some of our top favourite Thai restaurants. This place truly deserves more positive reviews and ratings.

I was torn between basil fried rice and yellow curry fried rice (chicken). Upon the waitress’s suggestion, we ordered yellow curry fried rice level 4 spicy. Thank goodness we didn’t order level 5 spicy, 4 was spicy enough (in a good way) for us but if you are not used to eating spicy food, would suggest you to dial it down.

We also ordered chicken satay that came with a bunch of sauces that went really well with it.

Portion sizes are just about enough for each person. Service was quick and the food here isn’t very economical but if budget isn’t an issue, I would highly...
