My husband (Bob) and I (Debbi) stopped in on Wednesday, July 31st to try to locate two trees for our home. Having had recent knee surgery myself, we decided to go directly to the office / checkout area to inquire as to the best directions to start the search process.
James immediately greeted us with a smile and we explained more specifically what we were looking for. He absolutely insisted that he would bring a number of trees up to the area for me to look at rather than have me walk the distance. Being very stubborn, I assured him I could do it and then he very kindly pointed out the wonderful wooden rocking chair and how much cooler it was inside. Darned if he wasn't right! We settled that Bob would ride with him to look at some trees and I would wait where I could be comfortable and cool. Pretty soon they came back with a beautiful looking tree that should work perfectly for our front yard.
Next was the apple tree. Now it was my turn to ride and Bob walked. He helped us locate another tree that should work just fine and I got my ride back to the checkout area. He then proceeded to carefully wrap both trees for the ride back to Sandpoint.
Needless to say more, James is a real asset to your business. His knowledge was as amazing as his "people skills." I am 72 years young and really appreciate this level of customer service. He was absolutely great.

Read moreI recently had a very disappointing experience at New Leaf Nursery. I purchased a rosemary plant that came with a supposed 60-day guarantee. Despite my best efforts, the plant failed to thrive. When I returned to the nursery seeking help and possibly to use the guarantee, I was met with condescending and unprofessional behavior from the staff.
The woman at the cash register grilled me with questions about my plant care, all while smirking and making side-eye glances at her colleague. They treated me as if I were lying about my efforts and spoke to me in a demeaning manner. To make matters worse, I was told that the guarantee is only "sometimes" honored, despite being assured otherwise at the time of purchase.
The inconsistent policy and lack of respect from the staff were incredibly frustrating. I left feeling insulted and unvalued as a customer. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service and guarantee policy. Until then, I cannot recommend New...

Ben (part owner) was especially helpful and knowledgeable in helping us decide what to put in our yard. He was also very generous to give us some organic gardening treatment (for free) for our blueberry bushes that we bought from New Leaf Nursery (it was unclear at the time if they needed treatment or not, but now I think they were just a little stressed from being planted), as well as refund us when our Asian pear tree got sick and we had to take it out. Our apple tree, two cherry trees, and blueberry bushes are growing nicely and we will be going back to New Leaf Nursery next year when they get more Asian pear trees in.
