Specifically: San Francisco sourdough employees. WORST customer service experience on September 23 at 12:30 PM. Employee took my order at the drive through and there was an obvious miscommunication regarding the Ruben sandwich that I have ordered for over 8 years now. I was asked if I wanted “lettuce and tomato, 1000 island and all the stuff. I said I just want the Rueben sandwich without all of that extra stuff like lettuce and tomatoes and wanted mayo instead of 1000 island. For some reason I upset her by asking what was on it since I’ve ordered it in the past and never had a problem with asking for the sandwich without lettuce and tomatoes. When I received my sandwich It wasn’t toasted (in which she didn’t ask me and I didn’t tell her, I planned to ask to get it toasted but she closed the window on me) but it was a sloppy put together sandwich with just cold corned beef and Swiss cheese. The Ruben sandwich didn’t have the sauerkraut on it which I thought was standard for the Rueben otherwise I wouldn’t have ordered a Rueben, I would have instead ordered a regular sandwich with meat and cheese. This was obviously a misunderstanding that had a simple fix. I went in to get my sandwich fixed and both employees were super rude and defensive and started pointing fingers at me that I told them I wanted nothing on it. So I asked if I could get it fixed. The employee took my sandwich and threw it away in front of me, threw her hands in the air and said, “well I guess we’ll just have to remake it! We will get to you when we can” and walked away. So at this point I realized I was an inconvenience so I asked for a refund and left. This could have been handled differently and I hope the supervisor sees this to find a way to coach these employees how to solve a problem the correct way. I wish they would have given me a chance to just have them simply put the sauerkraut on the sandwich and toast it but instead food was wasted including my time and theirs. I will not be going to this location again. I’m very disappointed with how this interaction went. Only one star for this location because the food itself is delicious, I wish I could have written a 5 star...
Read moreFirst, this place is located inside a gasoline station. Now I've had some wonderful food from gasoline stations and traveling around the United States and the world over the past 65 years, but it's never the most beautiful setting. Often, the atmosphere is tainted with the smell of old gasoline and stale customers. Fortunately, that's not the case here. The restaurant is actually very clean, as is the entire station. As for the food, it's okay. Nothing fabulous, nothing it would make me say yeah let's go there because it's really really extra good. But, it'll get you through the day if you're just traveling through. Now, I have eaten at some restaurants in gasoline stations where that was the reason you went. You didn't really care about the gasoline or the groceries. You cared about the barbecue and the beer. I'm thinking now of Rudy's in Texas. I've also eaten at some fish places where the fish was the reason to show up. Fried Chicken the same. Not this place. It could be if they really wanted to put the dog on, hire some help who are conversational, they could actually make this a really good place to eat. I just think they look at it as a side business rather than a real restaurant business.
The sandwiches are tasty and fairly well made. The sides are usually things you pick up in the store. There's nothing special about the service, unless you like poor service, then it's really special. I realize that many people working in a place like this this is their first job, but, there's got to be someone there to train them how to be good sales people, friendly, and a welcoming voice when you're tired and run out from the road. It may just be a management problem, it may just be I picked a bad day to go. I would like to see them do better, and I would especially like to see them have things like . . . oh,...
Read moreI went into your Hayden, Idaho store today and ordered a ham & swiss sandwich. I requested it be heated when I ordered it. When it was given to me, it was not heated. When I told the young lady it was not heated she informed me that I needed to request it be heated when I ordered. Thinking she would simply heat it once I pointed out their error she simply said sorry but you need to tell them that when you order again. Then walked away. That was the first time I had been in your place and it will be the last. I am also going to tell people about the service. I was very disappointed. I wish I had not left a tip when I paid. If I had known how I would have been treated, I would not have done so. Matter of fact I would not have stayed. I would have asked for my money back and they could have kept their cold sandwich. I will just go back to Subway. At least they heat my sandwich.
UPDATE: I was offered a refund by the management to appease me....
