Dollar General — Local services in Hazelwood

I don't want to donate and we shouldn't have to be asked to donate at the cash register. She asked if I wanted to donate the change for kids to make it an even 5 dollars. That's all she said, I said what do you mean for kids? What does that entail? I almost had to pry it out of her. She couldn't really explain it. I said what for, books, to learn how to read what. She said yes. I said well I taught myself how to read and that's all I said then she gets mad at me about it. Train employees to do a better job of asking and get them better informed before I give my hard-earned money, instead of them asking the government to donate. Better yet put a container of some sort with a label on and explaining what the donation container is about, and then have the customers see it and then if we want to donate we will do it. No communication involved. if the employees are going to react tell them to leave their bad personalities at home. It was a young black female employee. I did not...

Tired of seeing a sale item, then not only do I not find the sale items in stock, there’s no evidence that it was ever there to begin with. Then I take the item that best matches the sign to the register, only to discover that it’s more expensive. With trying and failing to find stuff in the store and having to substitute items, then get through the ridiculously long line, most people don’t want to go through the hassle of putting it back and getting something else, so they just buy the more expensive item, despite BLATANT FALSE ADVERTISING. Great little SCAM you’ve got running there. I will say that the sales associate, Jackie is wonderful. She is very jovial and a joy to be helped by. Too bad I won’t get to be helped by her much because I am tired of the aggravation of this store and won’t be shopping...

Worst store. They have an item that says 10 for 2 and then if you have a coupon you get 3 dollars bringing the price to 7 dollars. So yesterday a lady manager told me I needed to download the app to get the discount. She confirmed the price of the item. I return today in the morning and got the items because I did not want to miss the grear discount. At the check out, the system did not show the discount despite me downloading the app and following instructions. Long story short, the manager was not helping at all saying it is in the system. He did not even attempt to help at all. Bad customer service. Dollar General can do better. They have great items overall. Posted on 07/19/2025...
